Gas is up .27 in the last 3 weeks. I guess the Winter Blend is different than the Summer blend of gas? That's what they said on the radio this morn. Then again @ 6:30AM, who knows what I heard??

That always makes me laugh. They raise it because of "summer" blend and then raise it in the fall for "winter" blend.

Its on the rise because the holiday weekend is coming up and they can make a little more money because people are out going places.

I hadn't filled in a few weeks because I haven't been driving much, then I went to the pump yesterday and was SHOCKED to see that regular was $2.39! Premium is around the $2.60-$2.70 mark at the stations.

Man, last time I filled it was like 2.17 lol. That is a pretty big jump in just a few weeks

Oh well, better than what I was paying for premium for my Camaro last year living in Lake Tahoe out in Nevada - $4.50 a gallon if I remember right is what I was paying at one point.. that SUCKED

If you can afford 30k for a car, you should be able to afford the gas...I got my 2LT b/c I knew that gas will go up in the years I plan to own it, and the 5 extra miles per gallon (19 gallons x 5 extra mpg = 95 extra per tank) plus the extra .20cents per gallon would equal about $19.00 extra per week. I figure I would require about a tank a week, and that would save me $988.00 a year!

here in Nova Scotia regular gas is just under a dollar for 1 litre which would translate into roughly $3.80 Cdn per gallon and then factor the exchange rate and you are looking at around $3.25 US per gallon.

During the summer they have to make a gas that has less green house emissions which drives up the cost.

What I've heard and I think is a very valid reason for the gas going up is that the economy is starting to stabilize- or atleast we're not falling "as fast." People are investing in gas right now because as soon as the economy goes up, so too will gas consumption and gas prices. So everyone's buying gas stocks and it's driving the cost up, which in turn is driving up our gas prices even though there is a surplus of crude oil right now. I even heard one news station saying that the oil companies are being forced to lease NEW STORAGE FACILITIES because they're such a surplus... So much for a "supply and demand" market.

Interesting math.

The calculations on the extra per tank mileage are correct.

The fuel cost is 5X inflated. At one tank per week=19 gallons per week and $0.20 extra per gallon the extra cost is 19 x $0.20 = $3.80 which is $197.60 per year.

That's it. Cancelling my order. GM lets us down once again by offering a gas-sucking V8 engine and then lets gas prices go up.
Let's all show GM! We should all cancel our orders and go buy the Prius!

ok, not really...

I only get 11 MPG (at best) out of my 8.1L. I can't wait to get in the 20's.

Gas mileage never affects my decision to buy a car. If I want the car it doesn't matter if it gets 5 mpg I still want it.

I don't really drive that much now. Only fill up my Silverado about once every 2 weeks. I'm sure I'll burn through some gas when I first get this and then I'll be back to normal. I'll run premium
