Remove the two bolts underneath the kneepads, then go to the rear of the console near the cubby and unclip the bolt covers on each side and remove the bolts. The console should feel pretty loose, just grab the point that it is under the back seat and pull up. It'll be kind of tough to pull out but it's a lot easier than removing the seat. It gets a little hairy when you need to push it back under the seat but it shouldn't damage the leather.

I put together a how to video while I installed mine. Probably over detailed, but for those that want a step by step this will help...

Thanks for sharing!

Quick question - rather than prying the rear seat back into place, could you just tilt the seat bottom by loosening its connection to the car to allow you easier access to the console? I haven't looked much in depth, but usually the bottom seat can be removed with a couple of bolts and then tilted up.

You can pull the bottom seat cushion off altogether which would make access much easier. Just be ready to pull up as if your life depended on it to get those clamps to break free.

I got around to putting mine in today. It’s quite a bit thinner than the original.

It’s the easiest install I’ve done in a while.

There’s certainly no need to remove the bottom seat cushion to prop up the center console. It’s more work to remove the seat cushion than it is to use a plastic panel tool and gently push the seat cushion back to lift the console up.

Again my question. Will this work with a Samsung 9 S+. I have a 2016 Camaro 2SS. My prior Cellphone was a Samsung 7 S and I had to play with it (keep moving it around until it linked up) to get it to charge on the charging pad.

Will it charge? Yes
Will you still have to play around with it to get it linked up? Maybe. The 9 S+ is physically larger than the 7S. If you had to play around with your 7S, then imagine trying to place a physically larger device.

FYI: GM Wireless Charging Compatible Device List

By changing the charging pad, we are doing note #7 and therefore making the car 2019+ compatible.

The new module has a broader charging area so it will definitely be an improvement. For $70 it’s worth it. If you have an iPhone user in the car I’m sure they’d appreciate it too

I don’t know about that. The “charging area” seems to be pretty identical to the older unit. I could take a pic when I make it down to the garage.

GM states that phones longer than 150mm or about 6” may have reduced or no performance. Top to bottom the S9 plus is a little over 6” at 158mm

Some vehicles do have a larger wireless charging area, the Camaro isn’t one of them. The vehicles with larger wireless charging areas are:

Cadillac Escalade / Escalade ESV
Cadillac CT6
Cadillac XT4
Chevrolet Silverado LD
Chevrolet Volt
GMC Sierra LD

The issue he will have is the rubber mat that’s used to attempt try to keep the phone seated. Sure, that mat can be removed but the charging pad itself is slick and on the first moderately paced turn will send the phone to the floor.

It is also not recommended to use anything between the phone and the wireless charger (i.e. remove the case and go commando) due to heat issues.

The area that charges(field) most definitely is bigger and distance from the pad is more as well. If you see the inside of both modules you’ll understand why...

There more to it than the physical size of the module case
