Visibility Question
Is the Camaro really that bad to see what's in front of you? I've been hearing that it's like driving a truck and there's no frontal space recognition.

It is harder to have a good feel for where you car starts and ends, there is no doubt. But when in doubt...you probably shouldn't be considering whatever sort of maneuver it is you're considering, anyways. If you aren't sure you have enough space better to play it safe.
I know I hit the bumper up against the parking space dividers a few times when I first got it. You'll get a bit of a feel for it after time. |

So true. I came from a truck before the Camaro, and it was WAY different. But once you drive around for a little bit, it isn't a problem at all.

You'll get used to it. I picked mine up and had to jump right on the Garden State Parkway with Friday Shore traffic and drive it home for 40 some miles. I was paranoid to change lanes and was worried that was going to be a problem.
Adjusted my mirrors good, and have no issues whatsoever now. I love driving it. |

The one thing about the Camaro is that it is really difficult to know where the front of your car ends. Visibility in general is poor but tolerable once you get used to it.

Just takes a little getting used to (probably like any new car). Certainly doesn't feel like a truck!! Some of the reviewers complained about visibility but I think they're full of it.
Just my opinion!! If you're thinking about getting one, go for it - you will not be disappointed!

Another question, is it absolutely necessary to drive a manual? I've recently turned 16 and I've been driving my Integra (Auto), hopefully getting a new Camaro soon if I stay accident free. But why does everyone keep on telling me that I need to get the manual?
Isn't driving supposed to be about comfort? I don't plan on going to the track or anything, so I don't see a point in getting the Manual. |

Agree with what everyone else has said. I normally drive an SUV, and the first time I drove hubby's Camaro I was terrified...felt like I couldn't see anything and couldn't judge space around the car. After driving it a couple of times (with mirrors properly adjusted) I have no problem. Even parallel parked it today without any difficulty.

Like any change, it takes getting use to it. I also came from a truck so it was difficult to adjust. Now 1500+ miles later no issues at all. As far as getting a manual, get what works best for you. If you are uncomfortable with a manual then getting an automatic might be a better choice.
