VVT Q and A

Figured I'd start a thread to help field and answer some questions about our vvt cams, or vvt grinds in general.

I welcome any member that may have a cam of ours, or any vvt to post their experience so others can have a good thread to pull up on the search function.

We offer 4 common vvt grinds, but we move the specs around to accommodate goals and usage for each combination.

What I can tell you that you will see with VVT vs conventional grinds, is earlier tq than most ls3 cams, and the power will carry longer. Tq curve will be flatter.

As always with ANY cam, proper converter selection is a must, as well as supporting mods to compliment the setup.

If you guys/gals have any questions ask away!

My 2 cents I have the ss4 vvt cam with full bolt ons and head work u need a 4000 plus converter to take the most advantage out of your 60 ft and et at the track. I noticed a huge difference going from the ls3 conversion and 3000 stall to vvt stage 4 cam and 4000 single disc almost dropped 3 1/2 tenths on a bad air night. Power is there and drivability is good still

Do you have a dyno of a VVT cam with the cam timing static vs advance/retard to show the advantage of shifting timing around ?

Matt55 I have on the old dyno PC at work. Most all our cams I have a starting point for now.

At full advance or fixed 0 usually you see power drop off past 5000-5200 rpms.

Exactly. The heads shift the curve up a little.

Max gearing and at least 4000 are ideal for that cam.

It's a max effort na cam but still drives nice.

FYI vvt comes with the autos, for ls3 m6 I believe fly cutting the pistons first

I'll share my results May 15 or 16th once I run the SS4 with a 3600 circle-D triple disk, track times will follow as well.

ss3 with a vortech on the car I just sold...654 at the wheels and ran 8.71 in 1kft which is mid 10s at the track for a quarter mile. Solid running car, sounded awesome. Drove good. Has a new owner now up in KC, KS.
Ryan spec'd the LSA different for blower cams that are of the ss3 variety...also helps matching the stall up...I had a circleD that flashed 4k on a launch. 3600 was the rating. More hp pushed that stall up a bit. it cut the best of a 1.49 60 on MT DR's...dead consistent 1.50s.

I just think I would be a good selling point for all the people on the fence vs "ls3" conversion.

Next one I do, I will do a popular setup fixed like a 112+4. So I will fix it at 108 icl, then overlay the final graph over it.
