If connected by USB you could only access it as a storage device. Which as noted previously, is no longer supported by the ios. |

Page 7-20 in mine not trying to be an ass, but seriously why dick around with it when it is plain as day in the manual? Connecting a Bluetooth® Device Before a Bluetooth device can be connected to the infotainment system, it must first be paired to the system. Not all Bluetooth devices can be paired to the infotainment system. Before pairing the Bluetooth device, become familiar with its user guide for Bluetooth functions. The system only connects to Bluetooth devices that support A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) version 1.2. Pairing Information: . Up to five devices can be paired to the system. . The pairing process is disabled when the vehicle is moving. . The infotainment system automatically links with the first available paired device in the order the device was paired. . Only one paired device can be connected to the infotainment system at a time. . Pairing should only need to be completed once, unless changes to the pairing information have been made or the device is deleted. Bluetooth Setup Menu The Bluetooth Setup menu can be accessed with or without a device attached to the USB port. To select the Bluetooth Setup menu when a device is attached to the USB port and active: 1. Press the MENU/SELECT knob while in the iPod, Zune, PFD, or USB device main menu. 2. Select Bluetooth Music Setup. To select the Bluetooth Music Setup menu when a device is not attached to the USB port, or when a device is attached to the USB port but not active: 1. Press the CD/AUX button until AUX is the active source. 2. Press the MENU/SELECT knob. 3. Select Bluetooth Music Setup. To select the Bluetooth Music Setup menu when a Bluetooth device is connected and active: 1. Press the MENU/SELECT knob. 2. Select Bluetooth Music Setup. Pairing a Device 1. Select Connect To New Device from the Bluetooth Music Setup menu. 2. The system asks a series of Yes/No questions to determine what type of device is being paired. 3. After the system determines what type of Bluetooth device is being paired, the Bluetooth device will need to be put into discovery mode. 4. Some devices may require a personal identification number (PIN) in order to complete the pairing process. Locate the device named “GMusicConnect” in the list on the Bluetooth device and follow the instructions on the device to enter the four-digit PIN provided by the infotainment system. Connecting to a Device Once a device is paired to the infotainment system, it can be connected to the infotainment system. To connect a paired device when no other device is connected to the infotainment system: 1. Select the Select Device option from the Bluetooth Music Setup menu. 2. Select the new device. To connect a paired device when another device is connected to the infotainment system: 1. Select the Select Device option from the Bluetooth Music Setup menu. 2. Select the new device. 3. The active device is disconnected from the system and the new device is connected.

SG4
I was told by the Chevrolet service department that GM does NOT have the update for the SG4. They do not have any idea when and if they will get one. They are aware of the problem and at this time cannot offer any solutions.

yes for plug in, but what you quoted was the instructions for Bluetooth sync and just about anything works as long as it meets the Bluetooth Standards, and I know the S4 works via BT because my bro-in-law was able to connect his to my Camaro without issue. I can BT sync my first gen ipad, 3rd gen ipad, Galaxy tab, S3, iphone 5, ipod touch 3rd gen, droid 4, droid x, hell even my daughter POS Samsung prepaid flip phone. all work thru Bluetooth. as far as GM giving an update, don't hold your breath, they still don't have one for a 2010 Avalanche to work correctly with an iphone5 . GM doesn't seem to care about updating their sound systems in existing vehicles, only in their new models, thus forcing you to buy a new vehicle if it bugs you that much.

They could if they wanted to: Acura, BMW, Toyota, MBZ, Audi, and several others have no issue. My wife's 2007 Camry Hybrid has them every year rolled out with her navigation updates, iOS and Android devices work a lot cleaner in her 6 year old vehicle than in my 1 year old. Neither do most companies that make iOS specific devices like Sony, iHome, Kensington, etc. It's a choice, Chrysler was the same way in 2005-2009 and finally got their head out of their asses and started to make updates to keep up for the newer vehicles 2010 forward. While still behind to a degree at least they are trying. One would think GM would have it easier to do the updates since they have a live data link to the vehicle with OnStar, they could download the updates straight to the vehicle like Acura was doing a few years back when they had OnStar..
