i'm curious to see if my 1-2 grind will get better after switching fluids. i'll be going with RP. And it only grinds when i'm at high rpms. regular driving, it shifts smooth.

Buy the hand pump that slides into the bottle like a liquid soap dispenser.
You've got to get under the car anyway, and its not a big deal to pump it in.
Works great for the diff as well- all that tubing is gonna be a bigger PIA Poorman, trust me...

Me too guys !!

I felt the tranny to be a bit stiff than it should, so I changed the gear + differential oil and the car runs like a bat out of hell now ..

Watch your oils

If it ain't broke, don't fix it Travis.
You could drain the pan and replace your filter and put 6.7 quarts of DEXRON VI compatible synthetic automatic trans fluid back in (not the gear lube).
But your trans holds a total of 10.8qts. To get it all you need to have a trans "flush" and re-fill.
If you continue to have no problems, just wait til you've got 35,000mi and take it to a good trans shop or the dealer for that. Keep the receipt for your drivetrain warranty.

And buy a handpump at the auto-parts store- you'll need it to make short work of filling the trans. Also Royal P.'s bottle had a too small opening for my pump, so I had to tranfer the oil to another empty bottle with the correct size...It's always something!!!
Ok, so 2 bottles for the trans, how much for the diff do I buy?

1 bottle + friction modifier. Don't forget to add the FM to the bottle like I almost did.

thanks.

I was only able to do the trans today. the autozone near me only had 2 royal purples left. on a good note, I always had a grind going into 2nd gear at high rpm's. On the way home, I was able to try again, and it seemed to have gone away! I'll test it more when I get the chance. Probably tonight.

and i believe i don't need to add anything with royal purple, do i?

I was surprised how changing out the oil fixed the 1-2 problem but unfortunately, after about 10k miles my 1-2 is starting to act up again. I'm just hoping its the cold weather we had lately is the culprit, but if I have to I will give her another changeout. Let us know how things go

I think with the diff you're supposed to add it. It calls for it in the manual.
I have heard some say that with the RP it's not needed but I figure it's cheap insurance and it may reduce drivetrain power loss.

I just changed my engine oil, because I did not like the dark color of the oil afer 3000 miles. Now you guys are talking about the trans, wow, the dealer told me that you do not change the trans oil until after 50K miles. There is no way to check the trans oil because like the old days there is no dip stick. What do you suggest.?
