Looking at '13 ZL1

I am looking at trading my 2010 SS for a 2013 ZL1. Is there anything I need to look for before buying it? I have heard the supercharger needs to be replaced on the 12s and 13s but can someone confirm that or give me more details on that. Its a 2013 in BRM with every available option with 25k miles. Also its an auto and I dont know how i feel about that....

If you have the vin # there are some members that will check the service history for you.

Yes do a dealer vin search, a lot of the records are kept there. Dont trust carfax to give you all the info on your car. I found out some interesting stuff from the dealer search that carfax didnt have.

Same as others have said, don't trust carfax. I bought my 13' about 3 months ago, carfax was perfect but missing the supercharger replacement. Luckily I was able to track down the previous owner on here and he had told me the supercharger was replaced already which was great.

Go to the dealership and ask a service rep to pull your service records by your vin number. Should be free or cost you a coke product

Depending on where the car was driven and paint protectant and I would be looking hard at the level of paint chips on the front, hood, rockers, etc. Also, check the carbon fiber insert for delamination, discoloration, or small cracks along the edges. I spent 30 minutes inspecting mine before purchase with 7500 miles and really did not see all the issues. Ended up painting the hood and mirrors, re-clearing the insert, and replacing the front spoiler. I can say the paint on mine was not overly durable and the small chips on the hood eventually got on my nerves after many hours trying of trying to touch up. Mine is Black so perhaps your BRM will be a little more forgiving. Hopefully your potential purchase will be limited to a few small chips along the rockers.

That's kind of a big deal. There are manuals out there for sale to be found. If you want the auto, great. If you prefer a manual, don't do it.

Regardless if you go Auto or Manual, there's a TSB or similar from GM that extends the warranty of the Supercharger for 10 yrs or 120,000mi. That of course means you'll need to watch what mods you do that can void it.
