Who's cammed with their stock oil pump?
Ok I've seen several heated debates about the melling vs stock pump, but now I want to who has actually cammed their car and kept the stock oil pump and timing chain? And if so how is it holding up? And the cam I'm looking at is the LR night fury and my car is a m6. Thanks

Very few untouched Ls3/L99 oil pumps fail, then you see quite a few fail on here after a cam swap. Everyone then says you should have replaced the POS factory oil pump, when in reality the installer failed more than likely. My .02 cents

My stocker (LS3) pump failed a year after the cam. I went with the GM high volume pump on the replacement.

I have done to many to count with stock oil pumps and chains and had no problems and the only reason i have changed any is for high mileage! I will be doing my own soon and will be using my stock L99 oil pump!

Could the post-cam install failures be due to crap getting into the oil during the cam installs?

I still have the stock pump, but went with the C5R timing chain.

Swapped cam with 800 miles, now at 23,000 with stock chain and pump. Shift @ over 6,600 rpm at the track.

Do you have to take the pump off to install the chain?
