Confirmed, Resonator X-pipe not louder than the stock L99's

Yeah I'm a little disappointed because I was wanting my car to be a bit louder if its not loud enough as it is. I have a pair of LT's and a Solo with j-pipes axle-back( pretty much a muffler delete) and I had the stock mid-pipes on my L99. Now some may not know the L99's mid pipes are completely different than the LS3. I thought that the L99's big can in the middle was a big h-pipe resonator and maybe it is, for sure an h-pipe. I thought and even posted threads up here asking this very thought though know one seemed to have the answer. I decided to go with the Magnaflow resonated X-pipe thinking I would gain loudness but in turn its now quieter but does have a deeper note but gives more of the hum. Im thinking now I should have went with the Magnaflow Tru X pipe. I just thought I needed at least one type of muffler. Oh well, live and learn.

That sucks. I was going to get the same x-pipe and either magnaflow comp axle back or Pypes. I also thought that x-pipe would make the system deeper and louder. I guess I need to rethink things again.

-EDIT-
Did you just install it? Maybe it will get louder after some time? Keep me/us updated if it does get better.

You need to put the Magnaflow Tru-flow on there and it will wake it up big time with the LT's and the solo system you have..I have this xpipe on mine with the Pypes Pipebomb axleback and it sounds great, don't have a vid of it but there is one in this section. It is pretty loud and rumbly at idle and when you get on it, it sounds mean. I am getting ready to do the LT thing in a month or two with the HFC's and it should be pretty loud then..Good luck

Resonator or resonated pipes are used to quieting exhaust noise. The bigger and longer the resonator is the more quiet it will be.

See, I was thinking the L99's stock H-pipe had the resonators in it being so big and all. The resonated X is half the size of the stocks. If I had the LS3 I know it would quiet it because its just a straight through H-pipe. I guess the L99's is too just with a bunch of filler weight around it. I eventually will get the Tru-X but it would have been nice to know since it is around $20 cheaper. No mufflers/ resonators just straight pipe.

What size true x-pipe do I order? Dual 2.5 or 2.25? Or even better if someone has the actual part number. Thx

I payed $85 for the resonated x and shipping. I know I've seen the Tru-X for around $65 from one of these vendors. I'd check out Juiced before you make your decision. I'm going to get on the search and maybe the local muffler shop wont charge to weld this one up if I just give them the resonated x thats on it.

I've had the Solo J-pipe axle backs on my otherwise stock L99 SS for over a year now.
I can't imagine wanting any louder exhaust as they seem to get louder and more agressive all the time.
After 6,000 miles they have the Perfect old school rumble imo.

That sucks man, just take it to a shop and have them cut the resonators out and replace with pipe. An X pipe or any kind of resonator is going to tone the car down.
