Its 2002 all over again.
"Those who do not study history, are doomed to repeat the failures of the past" This isnt a flame thread but an absolute vision of what's actually happening right now to the camaro. A long while back many of us had the optimistic view that the new camaro was going to carry on the torch. And then there are some who's pessimism about the car were written off and ignored. Guess what GM killed the Camaro AGAIN. I know many are going to say no, not at all, thats a dumb thought etc. But just look at the evidence thats being presented. The time is coming, unfortunately for the Camaro.
Lets look at the new zl1, its been delayed and delayed and delayed. The same happens in the video games industry when a crappy ip comes along and the publisher is hesitant to push the game out on the scheduled date because its crap. So what do they do? Charge full price for the game and lock the rest in dlc so you pay more to the company so they can get their return investment in low volume sales but higher prices. In other words break even. Now that ford and dodge are killing it that means more for R and D. Which in turn means that the next gen GTs are going to destroy their competition. Im not a brand loyalist by any means and the camaro has been made dream car ever since i was a boy. But now that i got the car I truly wanted.( Well maybe id still like a gen 1. ) Its over for me. Also to note, those people that may feel inadequate because they have an "old" gen 5 and not the newer, shiner, toy on the block. Dont worry, you can turn our bad boy into a beast of a car. Keep it mod it do you own work. And it'll bring you a smile to your face for the rest of your life. Tl;dr The Camaro is going to die off. Again. Be happy with the gen 5 and turn it into a beast.

The sales are pretty damn disappointing for sure. The LS1 was the superior car, but the SN95 New Edge out sold the F-body 3-1, Camaro and Firebird combined. I don't think it is quite as bad yet, but I bet it will get there quick enough. Only time will truly tell.

If it drops to 40k per year for 3 years straight, that is when I would worry.

Love performance American muscle, but I've never gotten so wrapped up in brand loyalty that I care that much, OP. As long as there is someone out there making solid performance cars, I'll buy. Until then, I'll enjoy my Camaro, mod it here and there, and be sure to enjoy the hell out of it.....
Don't really give a rat's ass on speculation of a muscle car die off.....

Camaro has a bright future IMO. It is still popular, and if there is a sales lag then Chevy has to find ways to resolve it. I believe that the company has changed their ways from the past. Chevy and GM used to keep a car's style for years (sometimes a decade or more), and then when sales lag behind then the company would end up discontinuing a model out of frustration, instead of investing the time and money into improving it.
The good thing is that this is not the case with Camaro. IMO this Camaro may be the most robust generation in terms of performance and technology. What I do think is happening is that Camaro is facing very stiff competition from Ford, and GM has to figure out a good way to overcome the sales lag. Perhaps its price, or it could be the options offering with the current Camaro model. Perhaps Chevrolet will need to look at offering more price friendly options to keep the cost of Camaro more in line, or at least competitive with its competition. All is not lost, but Chevy and GM will need to figure this out.

The camaro has been on dedicated assembly lines(fbody) until now. Its being run on the same assembly line as 2 other cars. That helps a lot.

When I was at the unveiling of the 5th gen in Detroit, January 6, 2006, I know as soon as I saw it I was going to have one. That style is still my favorite. Maybe because my first Camaro was a 69 SS396 Coupe that I had for 34 years. The 2014 edition was OK, but not thrilled. I don't care for the front end or the rear end as much on the 2016 Camaro as the previous models. It seams to be getting too European looking. This car is suppose to be American Muscle. My 2010 SS is my 6th Camaro I have owned, at least one of every generation.
Just my "Old School" opinion.

I've already read that Ford is selling a lot of Mustangs to fleets whereas GM isn't, to make their owners feel more special.
I always post this and everyone ignores it for the sake of drama. That isn't the only reason obviously but I'd imagine their sales would increase a good bit. Also the Challenger didn't sell all that well till the Hellcat, high horsepower versions of these cars will always drive more people to the lower trimmed cars. Actually idk why I'm even post this, this same thread will be posted again next week like you lot are GM stockholders or something lol
