It depends on what kind of road and what I am feeling like driving. Driving a pretty high tech v6 you are not going to hurt anything.

I drive often at 3k, what's the problem? I normally stay under that on city street to keep my noise down but on a highway it's always like 2.5 plus. I want to have power readily available for acceleration with out having to down shift rev match.

I am only at 3K when I am expecting to pass or when slowing down to turn. Usually I am under 2K when I'm crusing along with my city driving
