That's funny The nissan driver probably went WOT at the light, while the Camaro probably just ate lunch and was too full to eat another foreign car

So much material, I don't know where to begin.
First of all, I actually drove a Leaf once. Nissan was giving "test drives" at the Chicago Auto show in 2012. Basically we went around the block. The power delivery was exactly like a golf cart. OK torque off the line, but they drop off as the speed increases, as opposed to an engine, which gains. The drive was maybe 1.5 miles long at most. Oddly enough, the electric range readout dropped from about 69 to 61 miles in that 1.5 miles. As for the commercial, I could see it appealing to the type of person who is not only clueless when it comes to cars and willing to believe everything they see on TV, but actually hate cars. Nissan knows their target customer well. Quote:
Yep 107hp. Powerful. Solidly in 1974 Mustang II territory. Some benchmark. Except a 74 Mustang II was a lot lighter, and had 3 more gears....so yeah, do the math on that one.

Thankfully consumers aren't stupid. Local city governments are though. The city of Portland, OR bought one for the mayor of the city, who will be out of office soon, but not soon enough. He usually drives a big honking truck when he isn't getting in accidents.
The nissan leaf has sold about 25% of what they thought would sell and the Chevy Volt, about the same if not less. We will all know a good product when the govt doesn't have to bribe you to buy it........any of you get a Fed rebate to buy your Camaro? ................jeeeez, however, we all did bail out GM to continue building it................okay, I got nothing. |
