Cold start scares me

Hey everyone this is 11 camaro IBM my car has every engine mod for the LLT expect the plenum spacer. Ill list my mods.

Ported intake manifold, ported throttle body, rx manifold spacer, vararam intake system, obx long tube headers, trifecta tune, flowmaster axle back, magnaflow res xpipe, 93 gas only since a year ago.

My car has 47,000 miles and has had no problems in the past.

The problem is when I turn on my car it has a knock in the engine once or twice durning cold start and it doesn't always do it just some mornings. Anybody think I should be concerned? Piston slap mabye? Any ideas would help thanks everyone I'm just not sure what to do.

It sounds like its coming from the engine it's not related to the exhaust or anything and its loud enough to over volume the cold start noise that's pretty loud

I think you might be hearing an afterfire, fuel inside the headers, hot exhaust hits it then boom. Mine does it if I rev my car before I shut it down.

Or it could be a cat in your engine bay.

Do you have the ghost cam on? if you do and its part of the Tune and not the EXE option. On cold start the starter will hook 1-2 times and it sounds like a pop grinding noise.
The EXE option to change the Ghost cam will over ride this and set the ghost to come on after a set temp like 5-10 mins after its warm.

I just use the ghost in my tune and not the exe option because i want to ghost to be available instant for shows when people ask to hear it with my cut outs. I dont want to wait 5 mins for it to warm up.

Simple test just turn on the cruise control before starting the car. do you still have it?

No I don't it takes time to come on like 10 min or so after a cold start. Thanks though that was a great idea

Hrrmm...interesting that you say this. I have basically every mod as well except headers and the plenum spacer.

More recently sometimes...not always, but sometimes I notice that on cold starts I hear a popping noise under the hood....not a clanking or a metal on metal sound, but more like a release of pressure...almost like the intake was popped off, but of course that that hasn't happened. It does concern me a bit, but it is not consistent at all (today it didn't happen at all) so I'm not really doing much to find the cause.
