I know it's not camaro related, but the GTLM vettes KILLED it this weekend

this is the last 12 minutes of the Daytona 24 race from this past weekend. EPIC finish by the corvettes - after 24hrs of racing, they finished .034 seconds apart. That video shows some tremendous battling between the two.

Just thought I'd share, as nobody here at work could give a sh*t and I think it's awesome.

That was SWEET!!! 23 hours and some change and racing each other clean and hard at the end. I'll be watching this series all season. Check out gotransam.com with Camaro's racing stuff! 1st race is at Sebring on March 4th.

I watched the first 5-6 hours and then caught a little night action then watched/listened to the last 5-6 hours. Seriously some of the best racing I've seen and absolutely incredible how many cars in each class stayed on the lead lap. That GTD ending was intense as well! I thought the Corvettes were going to touch a few times lol

They both turned their fastest laps of the race after lap 700.

One Vette set the classes fastest lap of the race then.

The first Ford GT only turned 690 laps.

I think they were showing off

I was disappointed by the reliability of the Ford GT's considering all of the testing they've done. They were quick and in the mix before it started to fall apart a bit so once they become reliable they will definitely put up a good fight.

It'll be interesting to see if the Ford GT's in the FIA WEC will be more reliable on their first race (6 Hours of Silverstone).

It was great to watch but I was sweating it. Visions of them wadding each other up were dancing in my head. You couldn't ask for a better finish.

agreed. It looked like the Vettes set cruise control till about 2 hours to go. I swear I heard the radio go "okay, now go". And they just kicked it up another level and put it to the Porsche.

I never realized the amount of shifting in a race like this, till they made a comment at the beginning of the race. About 28,000 -30,000 shifts for those that make it a whole 24 hours. Talk about a gearbox getting a workout.

I think that is exactly the strategy they used. Stay in the running but race clean and save the car for the end. You can't win if you aren't there or your car is on its last limb.

The numbers in endurance racing are really fascinating. A week or so ago I watch a documentary on Netflix (or Amazon maybe) called Journey to Le Mans and they threw out some insane statistics about the race. The one that really was a "Wow" moment was that in 24 hours they run almost 3500 miles, 85% of which is at full throttle.

Hats off to the Vette's, that was badass. Ford needs to learn from this and make sure the GT is at the front and not in the pits at future races.

They are a blast to photograph, and the sound they make is amazing. The crowds around the pits at Road America, and Road Atlanta are always biggest around the Corvettes, that is unless Patrick Dempsey is racing!!

They'll get there. Money, resources, engineering, and heritage.

The ending was incredible though.
