2012 LS3 - Upgrade Advice
OK folks, I am on my 3rd summer driving my 2SS/RS. I have been lurking, for the most part for a couple years. I love my ride, drive it with the nannies off (traction control pressed for ~9 seconds), and have had no driveline related issues other than occasional mild "clunking" when I depress the clutch at slow speeds. My dealer gave me a technical bulletin two years ago that diagnosed the noise as "lash". The frequency/volume of the clunking hasn't changed at all, so I accept the noise as an annoyance but not a risk.
I won't track the car, it's a DD and that's all. The only mod I have is a rotofab intake. I'm interested in adding power, but limiting it to NA. I'm reviewing the "For sale by owner" threads for an exhaust (LT, HF Cats, exhaust), and once that transaction takes place, I'm interested in camming the car. I want to take the car off the road for a couple weekends to install the exhaust, and cam. Here's where the advice comes in - I'm willing to install the cam (with competent help) - I'm looking for a reputable vendor with a proven, driveable, cam and upgrade kit, if that's necessary for reliability, that wont require additional maintenance or parts replacement in the future. I don't want to limit my search to the local (NYS) area - I'm open to any vendor with a proven product. I haven't determined the path for tuning (New Era Performance is a couple hours away) - I'm toying with the idea of a remote tune. Am I thinking about this right?

Hey man I'm the one in talks with you on the stock SS exhaust in case you didn't recognize my name. Before picking up my ZL1 last week I had a blown and cam'd 1/LE and it was done up right with all the best mods. Do yourself a favor and go to New Era Performance. Mike is one of the best tuners for GM period, they only work on GM cars, so there dedicated true enthusiasts. Also while your at it seriously consider there Blower cam just in case some day you decide to go FI. There blower cam is easily putting 70+ hp to the rear wheels and has excellent drive abitity. Make the call and ask for Mike, he'll set you straight man. Good Luck and let me know whats up with that exhaust, if you want it tomorrow.

New Era is a great choice. I'd have them tune it too. I agree with the previous poster... Mike is a great person to have working on your car. You're probably going to at least have to do valve springs as new maintenance with a cam worth putting in.
