ZL1 Front license plate (Show & Go)
So I just installed a ZL1 front end conversion on my SS, only to be faced with a new problem. I really don't want to put up any front plates, but due to the law in IL I have to do something.
So my question is has any one installed the show n go plates? if so, what the best place to do so. I would love to see some pics / videos of yours. |

I just rebel it. I throw it on the dash and pray. I'm not drilling holes in my bumper.

That seems to be a possibility, but to be honest at 89bucks it seems to be highway robbery for a few pieces of aluminum. Plus for that price I may as well buy the automated version from Show n Go:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-2004-C5...698b0c&vxp=mtr I am just wondering if anyone has done this and found a good place to mount it |

Like you, I have to have a front plate on my car down here and won't drill holes in the bumper fascia.
I looked at the show n go system too, but to me it's too vulnerable to curb impact and damage. Even it you mount off to one side. So I went with a JacFab aluminum plate holder.. It's bent in a V shape to match the bumper profile and secures using existing fasteners , Plus having it out front, it's the first thing to touch a curb. Here's a pic of the car with it installed. (Sorry it's a bit dark, but I was doing the artistic thing....) There are more pics on the JacFab website if you are interested. Cheers Brad

That's not bad looking. I'll just keep paying the tickets though. So far, none.

This. Virginia requires it, I refuse to run it. Been without for 3 mo. with no issues. I'll happily pay the tickets....if/when I get one.

Jacfab for me too. I hate being pulled over for no plate. My buddy here, Smitty, has no front plate and has been pulled over a few times.

http://www.eliminatorbracket.com/ works great on the ZL1 front bumper. No drilling and you can take the plate off in two seconds.

Somewhere on here is the hidden one that remotely come up from under the splitter.
Now that would be funny. You see the lights come on, hard u tirn and the police speeding up to catch you and boom you hit the switch and it comes out from under the splitter.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=i7PG1Eg3wy8 The officer asks for your license, registration and insurance card. You ask him what the problem is and he tells you no front plate. That would really mess with the officer.

Hang tight sswiss300
I've installed the Altec retractable plate on my truck and it works great I'll be doing one on my ZL1 here shortly and will show you how I did it. It's easy from what I can see on the Camaro (lots of room)... The SSR took some work to get it right Dave |
