Key Fob issues.
So I haven't done the recall on my car yet and still have the switchblades.
The other day I walk out 5:30 am on the way to work go to unlock my car and nothing. Lights don't come on and the doors won't unlock. So I think crap better jump start it and go to unlock my door with the key and that won't even work... I researched it and found out if the car is dead long enough the switchblade key won't even unlock the door. So I take my girlfriends car to work and have her wait with my father for the tow truck to come get the car. Tow truck arrives around 8 and says my driveway is too steep to tow it down and after trying to pop the locks to take the ebrake off and take it outta gear they decide to call a wreckers flat bed to get it. My dad then hit the unlock button purely because the fob is in his hand after both of us trying both fobs all morning the car unlocks and starts no problem.... Battery voltage is good and no sign as to what happened. The next morning i left the car unlocked in case it happened again so I'd at least be able to get it towed if it happened again. So I hit unlock and again it doesnt work... Lights don't come on and doors don't try to cycle the locks... I get in and it starts fine.... Has anyone had an issue like this? I'm wondering if there's a security lockout or something and if someone is trying to break in my car at night so the car is disabling the car locks? Its going to the dealer Tuesday but they seem clueless and like they think I'm making the whole thing up. The car hasn't done it the last couple mornings so I see many trips to the dealer to try and repeat the issue in front of them. I'm just worried if the issue continues I'll get locked outta my car while I'm not home and basically be screwed. |

Wouldn't explain the lock on the door.

Yeah it seemed like a battery issue but battery was fine. I guess I'm the only one with the problem maybe the car is losing power from the battery somehow.
I didn't know if anyone knew of a security lock out that might be causing it |

Even if you had the recall done it would still be same fob, so this would not have anything to do with it. You should be able to have it looked at you will just have to refuse the recall.

Are both FOBs doing the same thing? Have you replaced the battery in the FOB?

Yup both fobs wouldn't not lock unlock or pop the trunk and the the hard keys on both would not unlock the door manually

Apparently not its electronic and if the battery dies long enough the hard key won't unlock the door.

I had this same issue today. Did you ever find out what was wrong with the car?

"They" are going to get you to have that "safety defect" fixed correctly by the Dealership once and for all.
Don't think they can't. |

I know this thread is super old, but I have the same thing going on with both of my fobs right now. I have to use the key to get in my car (set off the alarm), and once I put the key in the ignition, the key fobs will then both work fine for then next few minutes. Let the car sit for an hour, then they won’t work again until I put a key in the ignition.
Is there some anti theft mode that temporarily disables the keyfobs? Both batteries are good, 3.2volts
