Thumbs up Need advice to black out the emblems!

Hey guys,

This is my first post ever in any type of forum, so if i mess up somehow I apologize ahead of time. I'm actually pretty glad that the first time I'm using a forum is because of my Camaro which I finally got about 2 months ago, its the car I've been wanting since I was a child. Needless to say, I'm pretty damn excited haha

Now the question, I have a black 2014 2LS (Wish I had enough for a ZL1, but I'm not complaining at all) and I was wondering what type of black to use for the emblems, I'm going to use 3M 1080 Vinyl but I don't know which type of black specifically. Originally, I was going to use Metallic Black or Gloss black, but someone mentioned that Matte Black might make it stand out more or make it look better because the others might just blend it in.

Seeing as I have no extensive experience, maybe someone might be able to help me make a choice? Thanks for your help in advance.

Since your car is black I would opt for gloss black, but that's just my opinion / taste.

You can also look into Plasti-dip.

My car I bought carbon fiber vinyl from auto zone made for rocker covers. If you don't want vinyl, You can Plasti dip. I did the dip on my truck

I plastidipped my badges and I really like the way they look on a black car

My car is black and I used matte black and I think it looks great. I couldn't decide between matte and gloss but they only had matte plastidip at HD so that kind of made the decision for me. It worked out great in the end.

I also used Plastidip but did it in red for both the bowties and Camaro logos:

Vinyl will not stick to your emblems because in the 2014 model year they switched to textured emblems. I went with Plasti Dip and it turned out great.

Thank you! I noticed that most of you all went with PastiDip and Dennis, you raise a great point, the emblems are textured, they are not smooth. It might just be that Plasti Dip would be the best way to go for it.

If I were to go for the PastiDip, what would be the best way/method to go about getting it done? From your own experience.

Thanks for all the help to you all, I really appreciate it!

There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to Plastidip everything from emblems to wheels. You can get it at Home Depot for $8 a can I think.
