do people even read the OP any more? He said he wasn't going for LT headers, and it's not seven posts into it people are suggesting LT's.
Anyway.. I think either of your choices (Solo MBRP) would be excellent. I have an L99 A6 and will probably go with Solo Mach XL. A friend has that exhaust and I have heard it in person, and do like it. |

I want to do an axle back. I have not sprung for the money yet, but right now I am leaning toward the Borla part # 11775. I listened to the difference of the three types of Borla on the internet and #11775 had the deep sound I am looking for. Some of the others make a higher pitched sound which my ears do not like to hear. Again I have not purchased yet but this is the way I am leaning. 60 and enjoying my SS A6. n116ebo

The ONLY option, IMO, for an aftermarket cat-back with no-drone is the Corsa cat-back. I tried multiple axle-backs while leaving the stock resonator in place and they still droned. The Corsa is the best-setup and easily bolts up to aftermarket headers if you ever go that route.

If you want a low, deep sound, on a catback that helps with AFM noise, then go with MBRP.
Corsa is pretty good, but too raspy for me. Went with MBRP and i love the sound.

Does anyone read the posts or do they stop after the first sentence....
express, from some that actually has an L99 and wanted an immediate sound increase only.... I would go axle back...and I did. Any of the companies mentioned above will be fine. I went with Borla S type axle back, got it for 599 (orig 799) from a vender on C5. I don't see a point in him going with a cat back if he doesn't want performance gains not to mention almost double the price for something he doesnt care about. I went with axle back because it was all I could afford when I purchased the vehicle. I do plan on going with LTs at a later date and at that time I will purchase mid pipes, until then if you only want sound...save money....The muffler deletes I have heard cause a bit of drone...especially if you are keeping your AFM. I would recommend Borla S type or SOLO. Much..MUCH deeper, and because I kept the mid pipes AFM and Drone do not bother me at all and didn't require me to get a tune....again, if you decide LATER you want performance gains you can go with mid pipes or LTs. AT that point def get a tune. Axle back is a cheaper, cost effective fix for an immediate sound increase. I love the deep sound from my borla and dont regret it at all...not offense, not over bearing..I would like it to be a little louder but if just want the deep gurgle hum, then I wouldnt hesitate.

Just ordered the Borla S type axelback this afternoon myself. REALLY looking forward to getting it in. Hoping to echo what Brantley has been saying all this time.

You won't regret it..I do wish it would be a TAD bit louder...LTs will fix that eventually, but tone is top notch.

For those of you who have heard the two ( Solo & MBRP ) which is louder? The only one I have to compare them to is the magnaflow 3" catback. I liked the sound of it but when the AFM kicked in it got to be annoying.

I love the Cherry Bomb cat back. $400, can't go wrong. I don't notice any drone from the AFM. It's loud enough at start up and when you punch it, but quiet enough to hold a conversation with your passenger.

If you want, I can make a clip of mine for ya (MBRP). It might give you a better idea of what it sounds like. I found there arent that many clips out there on youtube of the MBRP.
