Friday the 13th + 700 hp + Goodyear Eagle F1s + rain = DISASTER!

I just about had my car where I wanted it cosmetically and performance...then this :

I've already started the rebuild, but man, I waited all those cold months to break out the convertible and now I have to wait longer.

Yes indeed. I know it is hard to believe, but I actually had my sons in the car and I was not speeding. We were actually returning from having the car aligned. Wasted money, because I now need another alignment. I started up a hill in a 30 MPH zone and slip sliding away we went! Felt like ice. Fortunately not much damage. These photos were taken a few days later:

Hey thanks. The diffuser snapped back on but the RPI ZL1 splitter (fiberglass) was demolished.

Thanks! Yes, I installed springs, toe rods, trailing arms, and sways, so this happened on my way back. I was told that no one close to me would do an alignment on a lowered car so I was forced to go to a shop in Manassas, Virginia, approximately 2 hours away with traffic. I never drive in the rain but was caught in the rain on the drive back. Now I have to go back and get another alignment today. However, I have found a local shop that others have used. We'll see if they can do it.

Tires just bad in the rain? Trying to understand how you just started sliding. Kinda scares me a lil since I run the same tires and will be in the same power range in a few weeks.

I'm sure my lack of experience in the rain with those tires played a role. Like I said above, it was a 30 MPH zone I was going downhill in a lower gear, then as I headed up the hill I gave it gas in the same gear so I think the torque from the low gear caused me to lose traction an then I probably panicked and over corrected. I wasn't speeding but I'm sure my inexperience and driver error certainly played a role. Just glad my boys were ok and the car only sustained minor damage. Just be very careful in the rain (and cold weather). By the way, congrats on the power upgrade!

That makes sense. I've had some close calls myself in my old SS while in a lower gear.

Glad everyone is okay.

Thanks - can't wait to get back from my three week vacation and pick it up. Almost want to stay here so I can have it sooner. Haha
