My thoughts are that this car is just a concept. Like the LS7 concept. However, they aren't really doing anything new, and are using existing Camaro parts, so it would be a lot simpler to produce. If/when production time comes around they could, and probably will change it to Z/28.

Nice, but two thoughts.

1. If this makes it to a production model, they need to bump up the HP a bit.

2. I wonder how they put in an active exhaust on this and I wonder if it will eventually be able to be added onto a regular SS.

It needs to drop all that leather interior and lose some weight in places other than wheels and rotors. Cloth buckets with mechanical adjustments, no seat warmers, etc. All that stuff adds weight. Yes, I know they've made the ZL1 perform thus far with heavy weight in it, but, that will add extra wear on the systems, even if they're designed for it. You can't add mass without it effecting something somewhere. It may be faster tire wear, shorter lasting bushings, more frequent fluid changes, etc.. It always has to be accounted for.

Not every model Camaro needs to be a luxury coupe on the inside.. It looks like it's trying to be a ZL1 minus the LSA engine.

I think it's a nice start, but I personally would just like to see it go more towards performance considerations than creature comforts. 2LT/2SS and ZL1 are pretty much already that in the V6/V8 world.

not only are thos the things that add the least weight, but removing them would add more cost because you're now introducing new parts that are specific to only one model trim.

where have you been? That s exactly what GM is about. Look at Corvette GS and Z07

Also -- my comment about dropping the leather interior and losing weight in other places were independent thoughts, but I see how they could have been read together. I meant, no leather interior and lose weight in other areas of the car, not just in the wheel and rotor -- as in -- drive shaft, flywheel, engine, etc. anywhere it can be found.

I'd trade mine for that. Road racing FTW.

Really like this as an option to go for the Magnetic suspension. Definitely a happy-medium between the ZL1 and the SS.

Yeah, I remember the 4th gen 1LE didn't have accessories like power windows and AC, had bigger sway bars and a stiff suspension. That made it a pure track car. If they do it with the 5th gen, that would be cool...not to mention shave off some weight. Remember the B4C police package. Similar...almost.

I second your disagreement. Make it a pure race car like the SSX minus the rear wing and you got a nice track car. Who needs power windows anyway. AC is nice option but not needed.

Yes, that's what I was getting at... We already have fully loaded SS, LT and ZL1s... A 1LE shouldn't, in my mind, have all of that other stuff in it that's not really needed. Yes, it's nice, but it's not really a "road racer" at that point as much as it's a high performance luxury coupe.

I know many people like all their pretty and comfy internals, but one can't have everything... Is it too much to ask to have a "Stripper Z" again?
