Reliability?
Hey everyone,
This is my first time owning a Camaro. I wanted to get everyones opinon on the reliability of them and how long they usually last? I am coming from a Forced Induction car which I wouldn't think would have as much reliability as a naturally aspirated car. Just wanted to get your guys opinons. Thanks! |

The drivetrain has already been around for a few years now and I consider it to be proven technology. The Pontiac G8 is running similar engines and the Vette had been running with the LS3 for about 3 years.
Both the V6 and V8 are good stuff!

This isn't based on a previous Camaro platform, so previous Camaro experience doesn't matter. Look at the reliability of the G8 or current Chevrolets in general to get an understanding of Camaro reliability. Expect it to last for a long time.

i would like to see it last well into 100,000 miles. Preferably to the 150,000 range.

That's easy. I would expect it to last around 200k miles without any unreasonable problems for a mild driver.

The test mules already have over 200K on them. Don't worry about it.

GM has a 5y 100K powertrain warranty so you don't have to worry about that. My previous camaro at 150K had 0 engine issues and the current one at 112K so far running like new.

I know alot of people like to talk smack about quality of Domestic vehicles. All I can say is that I have personally owned a 1994 Z28, 1999 Chevrolet Venture (shut up! kids didn't fit in the Z), 2002 Monte Carlo SS and now a 2008 HHR SS. I've never had a single major issue with any of these vehicles. I think as long as you maintain the vehicle, don't beat the s*** out of it, it will last you a long, long time.

I had a 94 Camaro and it had to be towed once do the Passkey theft chip messing up. Had it for 5 years 55,000 miles.
Had a 99 Grand Prix GTP. 4 bad window motors, 2 leaky valve covers, ignition would never let the key out of it in the end so I traded it for a 2006 Honda Accord V6. I have done alot of research and I think this new car is going to be alot better than past cars and built in a good plant in Canada. I know where my GTP was built and GM had lots of issues with that plant in K.C. I have alot of faith in the new Camaro. Plan on it being my 10-15 year car. |
