C5 post disparity

So... being bored and at work, I noticed for the first time just now that C5 has now passed 20,000 posters.

It also has more than one and a quarter million (1,250,000) total posts. This comes to a estimated average of 62 posts per member.

But this also got me thinking that we have a number of members who have FAR more than 62 posts (myself included).

Therefore, I decided to figure out what the layout of post count wealth is, so to speak. What I found is that the top 20 posters (less than 1/10 of 1% of the total registered members on the site) collectively have a post count of about 195,000. That means that about 16 percent of the posts on C5 came from less than 0.1% of the users.

Just a random observation. You may now continue with your regularly scheduled C5ing.

Heh. I bet you if I expanded the calculation out to the top 1% (200 posters) the number would be closer to about 50-60%.

I believe that because it seems like it'a mostly the same 20 or so people you see posting all the time. Maybe the other 19980 posters are intimidated by them. I know I'm scared of them most of the time. LOL

It all starts with looking up a fact about our C5 and we find the forum. After that first click it is an addiction. Before owning my C5, I didn't even know there was a forum. Low and behold every fact I have ever wanted to know and if it isn't there just refresh because it will be.
