Hey everyone ... Just broke 1950 miles today ... Taking her in for oil change #2 in the morning ...

So, now that I passed the break in period I have been punching it with a little more confidence.

Did it a little during the break in, but am more agressive now. Gotta say, I love hearing that throat, even with the stock exaust.

Is it just me or does this car just keep getting more fun!!!

Where are you going to take it to for the oil change? The dealer?
I always had my stepson do them for me because he worked at shop, but he doesn't anymore.

And yes, the car does keep getting more fun. I have just started playing with the paddle shifters (I was a little intimidated by them). A whole new world!

Yeah ... In years gone by I had personal friends or family in the auto biz so that made maintenance and repairs easy. But I am no longer in that situation. I tried finding local guys that could be trusted, but that was somewhat futile. When I finally found one, they went belly up.

So, I experimented with my last car. I took it religiously to the dealer for oil changes every 3-5k (mostly 3k) and all the recommended maintenance cycles. After that I'd kind of alternated oil changes with the typical drive thru places and the dealer, and pretty much skipped every other maintenance.

I don't know if any of that made a difference since I had a Honda, but when I got my Camaro, my Accord had 270,000 miles on it! Now my daughter drives it!!

So, I went in to the dealer after 500 miles and got a standard oil change to clean out any new car metal shavings. I was going to go back at 1500, but the timing didn't work out for me to get it in the shop. So, this time I am going synthetic and staying there in the future. The dealer looks at me like I am nuts coming back so soon, but I felt strongly about doing this and am sticking to it. After this, with synthetic I hear I can go 7-8000+ miles before the next oil change is needed, so in the end it will cost more but I won't have to go as often, pretty much a wash.

Hmmmm .... Yeah, thanks for reminding me! ... I haven't used mine because they said wait until the break in is over.

Well, I guess I can give it a go now!! It's new to me too ... not sure how to appropriately use them, but remember seeing a good thread in the last week or so on with recommendations. Gotta go back a take another look.

WooWhoo ... More fun for me!!!

I'm still under 1000 miles but I haven't done anything crazy. Most of my driving, I'd say 85% is around town, so I don't get a chance to do much over 45 locally. I feel like the car really wants to go, though! LOL

Changed my oil today for the first time. It was pretty dirty, and the whole process was pretty easy.

You did it yourself?
There are a couple of threads I've read where people did it themselves and took out the wrong plug and drained the tranny fluid. Is it that easy to make that mistake?

Yeah, I did it myself (though my dad and brother were there to advise). It was very painless.

I used to change my own oil way back when, on my 85 Camaro. I don't know if I'd have confidence in my ability now, though. Cars are a little different than back then. lol

If it's something you want to do, I say go for it. I've never done it before; I just did some research and asked a couple questions around the forums. I don't know how easy it was on the '85 Camaro, but people seem to think it's amazing the filter is on top in the 2010 V6, so it sounds like the process has been made easier to me!
