Ouch - I'm so sorry your baby got a booboo. Don't beat yourself up over it for too long though. It could have been a lot worse and you've learned how far is too far.

I feel for you, as I know how awful it feels to put the first ding a new car that one spends hours prepping and making look perfect.

Whenever I want to avoid any chance of having my vehicle move even a millimeter in the wrong direction, whether there appears to be a slope or not, I use the parking brake to prevent any inadvertent rolling. It's a good reason to ensure that the parking brake is always in good working order.

First, with my foot on the brake pedal, I firmly set the parking brake. Then with the parking brake firmly applied I depress the clutch, put the vehicle in gear, and start applying a little gas. I then slowly start releasing the clutch until I feel the vehicle begin to pull in the desired direction. Then I slowly release the parking brake as I apply a bit more gas and continue to slowly release the clutch until the vehicle begins to move in the desired direction.

Following that procedure ensures that the vehicle doesn't inadvertently roll in the wrong direction.

That was mine two weeks ago. The first one always hurts but if it dont look like that than "this too shall pass" and you will make it all better.

Sorry to hear about your car. I think most of us including me have had experiences like this, but some won't admit it. I know it's hard, but try to look at the positive and be thankful all that was damaged is the bumper cover, and not a rear quarter or the trunk lid. The bumper cover is probably the easiest part on the car to replace.

i got into a car accident the first week I got my car... and another one during the winter. Total repair bill? over 10 grand. 2 grand I paid out of my pocket, and the other 8 grand was the damage the insurance company paid out. I paid 500 deductable on that one. So around 2500 i paid out of my A$$ lol.

Believe me OP, what happened to you sucked, but it could have been A LOT worse.

I put the nose of my Corvette into the ditch across the street from my house...being a dip...I know exactly how you feel...it was my doing...and it really really hurt seeing it nosed down like that, the nose cracked and twisted...the turn signal pushed up and into the nose, the brake duct crushed...the paint spiderwebbed...yeah...it hurt. But nobody was hurt...and the car was fixed.

We have all been there...or will be.

It always feels bad to scuff anything, but it is the "bumper" after all. Just take it down to any decent body shop, and for a couple of hundred dollars or so, it'll be as good as new in a couple of days, and soon forgotten about.

I damanged mine today...... so sux'd! I scuffed the front left rim and I am soo mad at myself! but was told once.. if it aint scratched, you aint doing it right...... this boo boo I cant buff out, but at least she aint as bad as those others who posted pics in this thread!

Ouch, sorry to hear about that. I know exactly how you feel. It seems like the more careful you try to be, the more $h1t ends up happening. Nothing you can do, accidents happen.

On the fourth of July of last year, my baby (Pontiac G8 GT) was all detailed, ready for a nice long summer of driving enjoyment, I had all my modifications that I wanted done, and tuned to perfection. Then on my way to my cousins BBQ, some idiot made an illegal U-turn in a highway entrance ramp, and darted out accross the street I happened to be driving down. Mind you, my car was flawless before this, I kept it showroom fresh all the time, I put over 8 grand into it and was finally looking forward to a enjoyable summer with it, ready to break into the 11's with my modifications. Then in a split second, everything was ruined.

Here was the result...

I didn't get my car back until september. I lost the entire summer with my car, and when I got it back, ended up selling it a few months later. I can't tell you what I wanted to do to that son of a *$(# piece of $*(% ($*&@ mother $*(%(@ idiot.

Point is, stuff like this happens. Can't do anything about it. It sucks, I know, but you gotta keep your head and go on. There's more important stuff in life. Not to sound like a geezer, just saying, takes away some of the pain. Maybe...
