Pros: You will lower the car's center of gravity and increase roll resistance in the corners.

Cons: You will lose a little bit of clearance.

Lowering these cars is pretty straight forward. All you need is the springs. We have many happy customers that have lowered their cars on Apex or BMR lowering springs.

I installed BMR 1" springs and thought the looks are great but the ride was a bit sharp over bigger bumps such as road patches. After using the install instructions from the old Phadt web site, I trimmed the bump stops as shown in the instructions and the ride is much better now. The Phadt 1.25" springs would also be a good choice.

Lowering the 1LE is not a bad idea, just don't go too low and go with a quality set of springs or coilovers. The Eibach springs ride very rough on the Camaro, so I would advise against those. Hotchkis or the BMR 1" springs would be my suggestion.

Best regards,

Tyler

+1, or go to a set of coilovers.

Agreed!!! The BMR !.0" springs (SP019) would be the way to go....unless coilovers are within your budget!!!

Personally, I would stick with 1", but 1.4" up front will be fine if you prefer the "raked" look.

I have the 1.25" Apex springs in mine, but I have shorter tires, I lost too much clearance around my 3" exhaust, it scrapes a little bit after a speed bump. Going back to 2.5" exhaust. My car is a vert, so the rear is lower than most, it lowered the rear of mine 1-5/8". I'm going to make shims for the rear. The spring rates on the Apex springs are slightly softer than the BMR 1" springs, that's why I went with the Apex. I didn't want to go too stiff on my spring rate.

Know this;Lowering springs are stiffer springs. The car WILL ride stiffer. Even aftermarket coilovers are stiffer springs. Lower and stiffer, but boy will she handle better!
