Flashing engine light??

Hello ladies and gents, so I have a perplexing one for ya. While on the highway in sports & auto manual mode, I was doing a quite “spirited” drive when towards the upper range of my RPM, the engine light of my 2017 RS started to flash. I slowed back down and it stayed flashing for about a min or two then shut off. The car seemed fine besides a slight delay in throttle response which was temp. and for the fact that cruise control wasn’t available anymore.

Anyone have any idea as to what happened? The vehicle is stock besides straight pipes going from the axle back. Any help would be appreciated

flashing CEL usually indicates a Misfire condition.

Mine did the same thing when I pegged red line. I believe it's GMs way of stashing codes in memory when you redline your car. This code will remain stored and if something ever happens and you need work the first thing they do while performing a walk around is check your codes.

Incorrect. The ECM can only store about 10 seconds of data and even that data is hard to get to as it is in the crash box.

A flashing check engine light is the signal of a misfire being detected. It will have code P0300 stored and if the cylinder that the misfire was detected in is known it will have P0301, 02, 03 or so own for the cylinder with the misfire.

Given the circumstances, I agree that misfire is most likely. What grade of gas are you running?
I would get a code scanner and check for latent/pending codes.
Your issues with throttle response, cruise, etc. are related to "limp mode," which is automatically present with a flashing CEL.

I had this happen about 6 months in on my 2016. Similar situation, was on interstate, pulled into fast last to get around traffic and floored it. Flashing light that then went off. Happened another time when I pulled out and got on it a week or two later. Then CEL came on and wouldn't go off. Turned out to be something got bent on cylinder one that affected AFM and was causing a rich or lean condition (can't remember now). I should have tried the lemon law because it took them 4 or 5 different tries to finally get it right. They replaced O2 sensors, something in the exhaust, all of the injectors before figuring it out.

It couldn't be if he has the RS. Those don't have pushrods.
