tsears: 2SS/RS Build - AKA: War Machine

edit:

Decided to christen my car War Machine in honor of my avatar.

Relentless, Invincible..

So I ordered some parts today for my CGM 2SS/RS A6

ARH exhaust package (LT's, Cats, X-Pipe)
Haltech Yellow Jacket CAI
FAST LXR 102mm intake manifold
SCT Tuner
Eibach Pro-kit springs

I'm going to use the stock mufflers since I don't want to attract CHP.

Will take some pics of the parts and of the car when it's all said and installed.

Hey TSears, where are you getting your work done in SD? Installing everything yourself or at a shop?

Will the LSX intake manifold and ARH package pass smog?

Smog?! eff a smog!... haha.. no on a serious note, I still debating on doing the work myself of having Greg @ Mustangs and Motorsports..

The ARH and LSXR will not pass smog, but I have 5 years before all that happens.

Here's the plan:

Okay so in talking to a few guys over in the "I love turbo" thread I've decided to revive this thread in hopes of getting a general input on my build. I've decided on a TT setup that will be engineered for maximum driveability and road race/dragstrip applications. Here's the breakdown:

Okay here's the initial plan. Feel free to make suggestions. I've got about 15-20k to spend TOTAL.

  • 408 - 416 stroker based off my L99 (I'm thinking more along the 408, don't think I'll be needing 416ci)
  • Forged bottom and lower compression pistons (options?)
  • Some sort of dual fuel pump (options??)
  • Keep the camshaft in place in there now (223/231 115LSA)
  • Keep LS3 Conversion w/DOD delete
  • TT kit with upgraded ball bearing turbos (Granatelli, Hellion. Options? Experiences? PM me)
  • Upgraded intercooler
  • Whiteline suspension / KW Variant Clubsport coils (Options?)
  • 1000HP DSS axles
  • Upgrade transmission with Altco clutch packs
  • Keep TCI Streetfighter Torque Convertor
  • A few other odds and ends... (18" DD wheels with the widest tire available, boost controller, etc)

In talking to a few other people here, I want three things.

1. I have a fetish for smoking exotics.

2. Enough control and power to road race / drag race on the weekends.

3. Driveability, Driveability, Driveability. This may end up being my DD.

Like I said before 15-20K max including suspension and wheels. I'll have some stuff to sell off during the build - Longtubes, CAI, x-pipe???? so I'll get a few bucks back that way.

let me know what you guys suggest.

P.S. Play Nice. I don't want this turning into a he said / she said debate.

I only understood half of what you said ,but I like the idea of a TT setup. One low and one high to eliminated lag?

Nah, twin 60-ish mm. They should be good enough for low lag operations.

If it were me, I'd go ahead and do either the 416 or 418, you're not adding very much money to the build, but you are building in torque.

For the TT, I like the TTi kit and the IPS kit. Either of those would fit the bill. I think the IPS 76 & 82mm turbos would give you the best of both worlds with the extra CI. I think the smaller 62mm turbos would run out of gas too soon. I could be wrong, but that is where my head is at currently.

I'm looking at the M6 version of this currently. You may want to talk to CMS if this is something you are close to ready for.

Some sort of dual fuel pump ADM ONLY
Keep LS3 Conversion w/DOD delete Yup
TT kit with upgraded ball bearing turbos IPS/TTi
Whiteline suspension / KW Variant Clubsport coils BC Coilovers

These are the biggies that I would go with:

Suspension suspension suspension.
Control arms, end links, bushings and sway bars.
DSS 1000+ hp axles

This is pretty much where my head is at. I've got to do the clutch where you'll be going converter, but pretty much the same build ideas.

Good luck
