Say no to the extended warranty. If you do want it, wait 11 months after taking delivery, and talk to Becky Rodgers. That way you won't pay for a year that's already covered.

Something to keep in mind if you do decide to purchace any extras such as paint sealant, extended warranties etc, these are 3rd party contracts who may or may not still be in business when you go to file a claim. Know what companies your dealing withand thier reputations. You should be able to return to your dealer within a reasonable period of time ( several weeks ) after the sale and purchace these extras if you want. If your told you have to decide "now" just say NO

You also can almost always get more favorable interest rates than are usually available from your dealer, thru credit unions or your personal bank, since you have a bit of time before you take delivery make a few calls and see whats available, many will provide GAP insurance with your loan if you need it.

one plus to doing this is that you won't need to deal with the "finance" dept at the dealer

Like someone else said. Just say "NO" to anything you don't want and don't let them talk you into anything you don't want. If they give you high pressure then say "I'm walking out of here." Quit giving me pressure to buy this and that. Remember you haven't bought anything yet. Even if you put a deposit down you will get that back.

Good thing we use nitrogen at work, I can fill the tires for free!

Thanks to all for you comments / input. This gives me exactly what I needed, a list of things to think about NOW instead of just trying to wrap things up at the dealer so i can go DRIVE this puppy! Those 1st 1500 miles (break-in period) are going to kill me...

Much Thanks!

Yes they are the hardest miles, just passed mine yesterday. It was fun to be able to have a car I can chirp into 2nd gear again

Not on the SS - a 20" tire won't fit in the trunk and a donut won't fit with the Brembo brake system.

Yes, but the op said nothing about a V8, and neither did the guy who suggested that if "the dealer tries to show you a spare you should leave." That's not good advice to give to a potential shopper as "SirZeusor" would be arming the OP w/ incorrect information.

In order, the posts read this way:

If they go for the trunk just start laughing and say "not the battery".

When they look at you funny walk away and find someone else.
Which is why I posted:

You absolutely can have a spare on the car so long as it's a V6. The OP didn't say "I'm buying an SS" instead, "I'm buying a Camaro."

The only other person who was paying attention was KSU:

Which is why I followed w/ maybe you (SirZeusor) should edit your post.

I always tell them ; 'if you try to sell me anything else, I am giving you a lap dance'.

It works, most of the time.

You mean, from you personally? Or are there some redeemable vouchers from a "gentlemans club" involved?

I was shocked when it was time for me to sign the paperwork. I was asked about a warranty and that's it. No other sales pitches - zero, zippo, nadda one. Quite a refreshing experience!
