Adding a Sunroof AFTER purchase?
So I've decided on a 2013 fully loaded 2SS 1LE, but the one in my state has everything BUT a sunroof. I can look to purchase one out of state.. but the logistics are crazy. Especially since I'm looking to trade my V6 2011 in as a down payment.
Would it be possible to do a power sunroof install AFTER I purchase the one here in state? And would anyone in CA recommend a place to do the sunroof install if so? |

I saw one here somewhere on the forum and it looked really good. I am sure if you search around enough you can find it. Most people are going to say don't do it since you have to hack up a brand new car plus you need to make sure the shop does it right. With the right bracing for it. Good luck to you in which ever way you go, personally I wouldn't do it. I would find one with one installed already.

There are some people who would add an after market sunroof, but this is highly not recommended.
The unibody on a Camaro with a sunroof is different than the unibody of one without. Its more than just cutting a hole in the roof and putting glass in it. If were to do it again, I would not get a sunroof. You loose out on the Mohawk and it takes up head room. Something to think about if you go to the track and have to wear a helmet. Sure it can and has been done... but I sure wouldn't do it, nor would I ever consider a car that had an aftermarket sunroof. I don't care what the logistics are for finding the car you want, I'd do that before I let anyone wack a giant hole in the roof of my new car.

Just get one with it, my first camaro didnt have a sunroof and I regretted it ever since. My Z has the sunroof and makes the car look ****ing evil when its open.

Ask your dealer to search out of state for you for a car that matches. That is what mine had to do. The dealerships have this thing where they can sell cars that are on other dealership's lots. My dealer traded the camaro they had sitting on their lot for mine which came 500 miles away from Illinois. I think I paid them $700 to go down and get it with a trailer. And I'm pretty sure you could talk them down on the price of that, I just never bothered to. You can read more about my story on how I got my car in my build thread. Otherwise I asked my dealer about adding an aftermarket sunroof. They did not recommend it as it would have a likelihood to leak and not line up correctly.

Sunroof model has different structural supports, also lacks the reverse mohawk. It's not just a simple cut out on the roof.

the sunroof its self has structural support.,,the hole has a flange around the edge of the cutout, the roof itself is only .63 mm thick, it is stronger around the edge where its spot welded to the sidepanel, I don't think the car has extra support because it has a sunroof
