Mine's still pulling some timing too. I have dynatech headers n hiflow cats. But my data logs still show some knock retard. Will update if I find the issue and will keep an eye on this thread too.

That is strange how some cars have issues on stock timing and some run great with it up top. I understandhow the cats could be the culprit but wonder why a stock car with stock cats would be having this issue if it is indeed the problem. Hell my bar has factory timing above about 4800, and it has no kr. At times in cool iat it hits 29* up top.

There could be a Number of Reasons, the slightest Rattle in a cat can set off the knock sensors.

A partially restricted cat can do it also.

I am not saying they are all bad I just Know of One that was.

Any Exhaust rattles will do it as well.

Ted.

Did you have a chance to pull a bit of timing where you were seeing your retard?

Been busy lately and haven't touched it. I'm trying to get the cats out this week also but my schedule is heavy this week.

Looks like I will have a bit of free time tomorrow and will pull the cats. I will take my software for a scan afterwards and report back.

Yea it took me a wile to figure it out.... after I pulled my cat pipes off the car and knocked out the rear ones, I could see to the front set with a flash light. The one on the drivers side was messed up.. I could see no light through it. the front cats have 3 seperate cats inside that are stacked together, then wraped in some fiberglass matting. It looked like one of the had turned to not be lined up. This was causing some serious back pressure on the driver side of the car. that back pressure would also cause a ton of extra heat. thats were my detonation was comming from. Ted gave me 6 tunes to try to fix the issue, Thanks Ted, but it was not his tune that was the issue, it was my car.. I ran the car with 93 octain in it and did some scanning, stock tune, 6.2 kr and KR every were for long periods of time. I went home and gutted the cats. I went right back out and I could not make the car knock.. I reinstalled Teds 93 tune and still could not make it knock. Then Ted sent me another free tune, that added 2 degrees of timming. I still am unable to make the car knock.... Ted went above and beond on this one....

Swap out the pipes and make sure you get some good gas and go for a ride... that should get ya..... it could also be a bad spark plug or plug wire... man 10 kr wholy crap that killing your time at the track and every were else... hope this helps...

owwwww this will help... before you start taking stuff off the car. spray WD-40 on the 4 manifold bolts. you will have to un hook the front o2 sensors from the top of the car, pain in the butt, and the bottom ones from underneath the car. after you get the mid pipes out, spray a tad of WD-40 on the o2 sensers were they thread in. this will make everything come apart so easy....

Well cats are gone and knock is still here. I guess its on to another fix. Logged on the way home and showed a near constant 9 degrees retard at wot. I guess the next thing is clean up the intake and get a catch can. BUMMER!
