We were fine until YOU had to get your panties all in a wad. Since you have a problem with a simple statement, I'll break it down for you. We buy a high performance car to get...wait for it....HIGH PERFORMANCE. Yes, we like POWERFUL CARS. Fuel economy is not our primary concern. In fact...pay attention here: I'd lay money on it that the majority of SS buyers don't care AT ALL how many MPG their car gets. THAT was my point, only I put it much more succinctly the first time. I hope this helps explain things for you and prevents you from being so negative. Most of us are friends here. Take it easy. Have a drink or five. Oh, and the cheap shot at misspelling my chosen moniker was not necessary, and was, in fact, against forum rules in making a personal attack, but I forgive you. |

Fuel mileage is a HUGE concern for a modern car. Its the first thing to go down when the car isnt performing up to par. Just because someone bought a SS doesnt mean he doesnt care what gas mileage it gets.

LS3 and L99 are going to take around 5k-10k before they really losen up. Performance and MPG will go up some after that time frame. These engines are really tight.

I'll give you that. If mileage CHANGES it's a good indicator that something is not right. I care when it CHANGES. As long as it remains constant it makes no difference to me.

Is this the reason the dealership gave you for your car being slower than normal?

Dont take to heart what the DIC is telling you that you are getting for gas mileage. I took a trip last weekend and it said that i got 23.2 mpg. When I filled back up and did the math for miles drive and gallons used, it was 25.4 mpg.

I think the DIC is averaging all miles since you had the car, or last set it to 0. I could be wrong. But unless you set it to zero as well as your trip, I don't think it will match your "per tank" average, more of a since you bought the car, or last had it at 0 average. I messed with mine, had it back to zero and started over with a low average that didn't match my tank either. I checked my tank this morning when I filled up and it was 19, yet my DIC showed 18.4 or something. It definitely has gotten better with the more miles I put on it. In the very beginning it was 14 - 16. 70 mile all highway daily commute to work. Not sure if this helps anyone, or if anyone cared. My .02 thats all...

I did zero it at the begining of the trip at the same time I filled the car up with fuel.

Does seem a little low to me. But I've gotten anal about watching my MPG now that I have the DIC to show it to me.
I get about 16-17. Typically I drive about 15 miles round trip for work. Half of that each way is about 4 stoplights then a nice curvy open road. When I get off the Base it's longer stretches without stopping and I can get it up to 21-23. On the highway it'll get 25-26. And to patriotpa and smon, yes some people care. If you're going to make comments like that, end it with a smiley, to keep people light-hearted.

Wow, well if you zeroed the average MPG and trip at the same time I would have thought it would be alot closer to what you do manually, guess not. That is good to know...
