Let me preface this with...I am a camaro V8 fan.

It sounds like Lutz is taking about camaros in that price range or is he including all of GM models in the price range? I think it would be interesting to get more clarification on that. It is a heck of a lot easier to be more profitable than expected when you don't have to pay your bills. Don't get me wrong, I am happy GM is doing well. I just don't think it should be that surprising.

So much for the market driven economy!
What are you talking about their is no gas guzzler tax on any model of the camaros. If you own one you would know this and if you do own one go look at your paperwork there isn't a guzzler tax.

edited: Nevermind I see you are talking about the extra money they put of the V8 to discourage sells.

Exactly what I was thinking. Let's hope they continue to put this profit in their pocket and not give it away as sales begin to decline. That's the last thing we need is to start seing SS's discounted $5-6K off. Then again, I might want to get a new one in a couple years!

Thank God GM finally woke up and started producing a car with beautiful lines, versus some of the fuglys and rice cake imitations they had in the past decade.

Well, FIRST they can pay back the money they owe the country. Lower prices would be nice but with that much debt on their hands it makes more sense to go for max sustainable profit.

Why are you people complaining about the V8 being overpriced??? How is it that far off from the Mustang GT's price? You're complaining about $1500 more for an extra 100HP? You people are crazy.

GM could've restricted V8 sales to be less than V6 sales like Ford did with the 2005 mustang when they re-designed it. GM did have some restrictions, but that was supposedly because the factory could not produce enough engines, not for CAFE or because they were ignoring the market.

GM has done an awesome job with this car. If you are upset because you didn't have the money to buy the V8 because it was $2K more than it could've been priced at, then you might as well be upset you couldn't afford a BMW 3 series or a Lexus.... I mean seriously, be angry at yourself for not making more money, not GM for pricing the car as it should be for a top of the line model... You'd think the only way some people would be happy is if GM sold the car for a loss just because people would've wanted to pay less for the car...

At this moment in time a Camaro SS is "King of the Road". Everyone looks, stares, comments, and ask questions about my IBM 2SS/RS. It was worth the extra money (if they say so) to enjoy such a beautiful piece of automotive design and performance.

Good news for those of us waiting for convertible! They say they are going to make it and once in a while we get a picture of one but I won’t believe it until I have the keys in my hand! I am still keeping my fingers crossed! keep up the good work GM! you know all of us here on Camaro5 are behind you! Try adding this aggressive styling into all GM lines not just cars but trucks too! and see what sales do then.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CONVERTIBLE

Very good news

- Not sure how I feel about my V8 having been "overpriced" though ;-)

Hopefully this also enforces need for more focus on GM accessories and performance parts for the Camaro.

Money being left on the table there by GM
