i had 2nd gear grind on me twice during the drive and 5th gear grind once.
Interesting. Do you drive manual on your current camaro and do you ever grind gears? Do you drive it with the same aggressiveness without grinding?

I have heard of MT82 (Chinese made transmission) problems on the mustang and people say they are blown out of proportion, but I am one that believes they are legit claims.

I test drove a used 2012 GT with a little over 5000 miles on it. I was driving it easy and normally and it popped out of second gear on me. The transmission also made metallic noises. Subtle, but they still did not sound right. Never grinded on me. It was also notchy.

oops, got the 3 and the 4 mixed up on the mustang's curb weight. i fixed the original post.

the weights i used were curb weights from edmunds.com.

the gear grinding was not so much user error. my dad has a 2011 GT and i have driven his car a couple dozen times and his car will still grind occasionally and has popped out of gear on me a few times.

I had a 2nd and 3rd gear gring on my GT and Ford replaced some stuff under warranty. That was at 900 miles and I'm almost at 15k now with no issues. Mods at the time we're Eibach Pro System, tune, intake, exhaust, and o/r mid pipe. Both dealers I go to are indifferent about my mods as well.

Sounds like you were insecure about your little v6. Line yours up vs a 2011-2012 Mustang...nahhh, don't do it, then you'll hate your car even more.

Your modded LT runs what a stock 2011 Mustang runs, so if you destroyed one, it was a 4.0, not the 3.7.

It looks like people are very passionate about the choice they made. As long as you like your car over the other car, then who cares? Every person has different likes/dislikes. You should chose based on what you tend to like and what makes sense to you. That's why I never go based on magazine reviews or numbers. You can end up with a car that others like, but you absolutely hate.

I'm just curious, did you drive an auto V6 Mustang?

The '11+ V6 autos are dogs with the 2.73 axle ratio. To compare one of those to a V6 Camaro is probably a bit lopsided.

I don't think he did. He said the gears ground a few times. That implies it was a stick.

I don't understand this comment. He compared V6 to V6....why use the word "little"? I'm sorry but these kinds of comments don't really help your image either.

Ever learn to keep a comment to yourself.....no?

Now here is a helpful statement that I can agree with.

Honestly, comes with the territory, KMPrenger. Cheap shots like that dont suprise me. Its no different than the Mustang crowd coming in here to protect there Mustang. Do not misconstrue the previous statement. Any talk of a V6 being cool or better than anything really... honestly, attracts the zealotry of the V8 crowd/Mustang crowd respectively. No disrespect to any parties. Just fact, unfortunately. Cheers all.
