Hello! New here: Could you put SS mail slot on RS? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I know this may anger some SS owners but the reason I want to is so I could install a direct CAI. No I am not planning on adding SS badges or anything. I am proud of my RS. I am putting a CAI on the car and have pieced one together and I was just kept thinking how nice it would be to have that front slot that the SS doesnt even use unless it has been modded. Now, I know the mail slot is apart of the whole front assembly. Would the SS assembly fit on the RS?

The RS is not the model. If you have a v6 it's an LT, the RS is an appearance package that can be added to both the LT and SS models.

And yes, I believe you can buy the SS front fascia and bolt it on.

Hi! Welcome to the forum!

May I assume you have a V6, RS version? RS is a package you put on the car, not exactly a model. The SS model comes with the mailslot you are referring to and they also can have the RS trim package.

Now, to answer your question, yes, you can. You will find quite a few threads on the forum of people putting the SS front fascia on the V6's

I have seen people want to go the other way when they have hood scoops on their SS models!

yes the SS front fascia will fint on the V6, buuuuut.......I have a feeling you are going to run into some problems if you want to do this. Check under your hood and look at where the mail slot would be. all the hood hitch components are right behind there. You would have to find a way to remove that and make some hitches to hold down the hood elsewhere.
You might even need hood pins to hold down the hood.

I have a feeling you don't know what you are getting into.....

yes the front fassica does fit. a forum member has changed it his LT one and put in the SS one i cant remember who it was though

he's not just talking about replacing the fascia, he's talking about making the mail slot functional.

Now on the ss could it be made functional just by running the intake up to it? Or is the radiator in the way?

The radiator fill cap is the issue as well as the hood latch, it could be pushed forward. Look at the New era OTR intake and vararam. They both get air from over the radiator. The problem with making the mail slot functional is the hood hitch
