NOPE it would be too dangerout as you never know if you left it in gear or not!

Well, you could install the automatic driver that presses the clutch to the floor in order for the failsafe switch on the starter to be bypassed. Then you would have to make sure that the emergency brake is pulled up but... I guess the automatic driver could do that too. It is very hard to find one of those automatic drivers because they quit making them when the automatic pilot/cruise guy failed to steer while driving.

You can hook it up to a switch that would only let it start if the ebrake is pulled.

But the car could still be in gear and the ebrake may not stop it from moving when cranking.

The Ebrake idea is a good one, A well adjusted ebrake would not let it even start.

Not like the engine would be able to rev up and then go into gear.
It would not even spin enough to start.

It owuld try but it wouldn't turn over over a full 360 revloution. Just need to have the fail start setting low, so it only tries like twice then quits.

would like to see more pic of that hood n other applications of the logo FnB.

Thumbs up

its possible, most aftermarket remote starts check the nuetral wire, or nuetral light circuit before attempting to start. that generally eliminates the chance of it being in gear.

That has always been my thought.

Is car in neutral? Yes, start car. Is car in gear? Yes, don't start the car.

If we can put a man on the moon, why can't we get a remote start for a manual?

There are remote starters out there for manual transmissions but you have to specially arm them before leaving the vehicle. Something called "reservation mode"

http://www.ultrastarters.com/products_mseries.html is just one

http://www.viper.com/ShopViperProduc...ItemCode=4102V
  • Manual Transmission Mode

yeah most remote starts have a manual and auto mode, its a feature you program during installation. once it set to manual mode you wont have to worry about it again, it will always check the neutral circuit. The more interesting question is if you could interface a factory remote starter from an auto camaro onto a stick

I am an installer of remote starter. I have my own shop up here in Quebec, Canada. Remote starters are very popular up here... They are remote starters for manual transmission. DO NOT use an auto trans remote starter on a manual. The manual remote starter will check the state of the e-brake and of the doors. When you get out of the car, the engine will still be running, so you will need to leave the car in neutral. After you closed all doors, you will shut the car down using the remote. At this point, your car is in ready mode and the remote starter will check to see if a door is open. If ever a door was to be open, the remote starter will be disable so if the car is put in gear, it won't start. It's very safe. In over 10 years now, I've never seen one fail. I suggest the brand Autostart. (they have a web site www.autostart.com) Also you will need a bypass module for the transpondor key. Takes about 1.5 hours for an experienced tech to install and here in Quebec, it would cost between 275-400$ cdn for a complete kit with installation (depending on the remote you choose)
Let me know if you need more info.

Yes is possible seen it done but it's illegal on the US so it's hard to find a shop to do it unless you are friends with one and they trust you that if someting goes wrong and your car plows into another car or kill somebody you aren't going to rat them out.
