NEC5 Members: Charity Run Interest?
Anyone see the article in ProJo earlier in the week about the family in South Kingston that received a home makeover after their 10yr old son lost ability to walk due to advancing MD? One of the boy's interest are cars... Was thinking it might be a fun opportunity to set up a caravan to drive to his house and show the cars and club?? If there's interest I'll take the lead to reach out and coordinate it.

If we do it, it would have to be soon.

Agree on timing... I'd say first weekend we can get some consensus... Next weekend 4/5 Dec?

OK, I spoke to Adam Kamel's mom. He having surgery on both feet this coming Thursday. Shed like us to plan for the weekend of 11/12 Dec, where Saturday the 11th around 2pm would be great. She gets home from work at 1:30... She understands that the weather is a problem if it's ugly...
So there it is for now... Anyone else up for this? There is a great meet-up at the junction of rt 1 and rt 138 in the parking lot at the old forest fire lookout tower. There is a park-n-ride lot there. The Kamel family is only a few miles further down the road off Rt 1 (5-10 min max).

Would love to do this, but 12/12 is kind of a meh day for me. I'm supposed to go up to a friends house in Hartford, and I don't want to leave to late to get there.

Any chance we could do this in the spring? I am sure we could get a much larger turnout then.

Or hell why not put on a car show in his honor in the spring?? Have him be the guest of honor? Make it real special! Invite everyone! Is or was he at a school? Maybe have the show at his school? I know you said MD so not sure if he was home schooled or it just is getting worse and not at school.
Just a thought. |

Think about it..get everyone involved call the school call the local paper and news. I mean I will not go into detail about it now or on here. But I think something big can come out of this. |

As I understand it, he's in public school... Just recently suffering a worsening of his MD. he's having surgery on both feet this Thursday. That's why this coming weekend won't work. Mom thinks the weekend after would be better.
As for Spring, I'd prefer to get over sooner than later as he's likely to be feeling down after this setback, surgery, etc. So would be Todd to try for a pick-me-up now... A dedicated show in Spring is a GREAT idea, and doing it AT his school is brilliant! So bottom line, weather permitting I'm up for trying to do this on Saturday the 11th, with Sunday as a rain date. I drove by the house today. It's no more than 5min from the proposed meet-up at RT1/138.
