In the mirror on the 2010 - 2012 Camaro, there is both a constant 12v lead as well as a switched 12v lead.

In the new 2013 mirror, there is a 12 v constant lead, but the switched lead is down to 10.2 volts. this will not power a RD.

Therefore, there is no switched 12v lead in the mirror that can be tapped by the mirror tap product. On the 2013, you must connect to the constant 12v lead, OR run a new wire from the Fuse panel that is switched...

The "power" to the mirror has dropped from 12v to 10 v. btw - The battery would only go dead if the hot lead is grounded. that (of course) is not the case. You can use the red wire, but the RD will NOT turn on and off with the ignition...

do you understand?

I haven't looked at the 2013 wire harnesses but the 12 had 3 pink wires going to the rear view mirror. One of those is Ignition. Why they would change that, I don't know.

I'm looking at the 2013 print and the Ignition wire is the Pink wire (pin2). The ground wire is the Black wire (pin5).

Ehmsea, comparing your connector and wire colors to the print, there are some differences. Pin2 is empty for you. Pin4 is orange instead of light green with black stripe. Your pin9 looks violet instead of grey. I can't explain these differences other than "options". Typically, they still use the same colors so even options don't explain that difference. Would be nice if we could get more input from those with 2013s and compare to the documentation I've provided here.

Darth - I wrote down all of the wire colors and positions and measured each one with a voltmeter with a known ground and 12v source. I'll post it up here after I get home from work.

thanks for the schematic.

Ok, so I wanted to compare my notes with the info you provided (Darth), so I went home for lunch and grabbed my notes. Your colors are correct as the picture in original post was of the wires on the mirror side of the plug. My notes confirm the colors listed as those on the Windshield side of the plug.

I tested all of my wires (some spots are empty) using a known ground (accessory plug by the shifter). Then, if that wire tested 0 volts, I tested again with the 12v lead from the same accessory plug.

Then as I found voltage for each, I would turn the key on and off to determine if the power source was constant (c) or switchable (s).

In summary, it looks like the pink wire in position 2 is the one you want for a switchable (on and off with the ignition) 12v source. I do not have that wire with the options I have. I wonder if this is for those with a sun roof? Can anyone confirm that they have a pink wire in the rear view mirror station 2 on a 2013 Camaro?

If so, then you'll need to order the Sunroof for the Mirror Tap to work (switchable)...

In my configuration, the only switchable voltage source is only 10.2 volts. This was not enough to power the RD...

Here is a picture of a little spreadsheet I made with my test results:

I have a 2013 ZL1 with the sunroof. No pink wire on #2.

I have mine hooked up and manually turn it on and off (at least most of the time :-O ).

I was thinking about the sunroof statement that I made earlier...doesn't make much sense that they would run the sunroof wire to the mirror anyway...that would go straight to the wiring harness that is above roof liner.

I can't think of another option that would go to the mirror. From above, the Pink wire is associated with the option of "Without DBW or DDB"

Anyone know what that means?

DBW is the manual dimming mirror.

I could not find anywhere what DDB (or DD8) was.

Any way you could post the pic of your blend mount on your '13 mirror. I want to see how it fits up there. My Z's TBW is 4/15! I can't wait...need to have the radar protection ahead of time...

Thanks

Does anyone know about doing the same with a 2011 with auto-dim mirror and a sunroof? I need to know which wires to tap in to. TIA
