Wrinkles in top normal?

Hi, Been lurking around here for a while and figured I make this my first post. Is this happening on anyone else's vert? It seems to me this could be much worse down the road. Also getting a flap look above the driver side too
Took delivery on July 4th. 2012 AGM 2SS Build Date 01/12
Also using tap talk for the first time hope the pics show up.... Thanks Lenny

Welcome to the forum. Those wrinkles look excessive. Looks to me like the top was left in the down position for a long time. Did you get this car off the showroom floor?

Tramtwo is right. It looks like that top has been down a LONG time.

It also looks like it was put down when it was wet/damp.

This often happens when a dealership leaves their cars on display outside and lowers the tops on a "sunny sales day" (after a night of rain).

Build 1/12... delivery 7/12... a lot can happen in six months.

How many miles were on the car when you took delivery?

I wonder if a deep clean/scrub (303) followed by a seal and some extended time in the sun would help out? The top doesn't look loose to me.

Thanks for your replies.. The top did not have these wrinkles when I picked it up. It looked great! I agree looks like it was down for a long while. I can't say what happened on the dealer lot for 6 months but I have never put it down wet or left it down for a long period of time either. I did get some 303 cleaner and sealer and will try that. There are no visible wear marks yet but I'm keeping a close eye. The top has only been cycled weekly since I got it and barley has 1000 miles on the car. It had a little over 100 miles on it when I took delivery. Weekend car not DD

That's what mine looks like too. And mine has 11k on it. I do put it down a lot, I took it to the self-spraying car wash yesterday, trying like hell to clean it up, but it didn't do much. Good thing is, no holes though.

It sounds like you have a plan. The 303 should help. The convertible top members on C5 are the most knowledgeable and helpful folks out there, sometimes knowing more than some dealership personnel. You will not be alone if your top develops problems; there a alot of great resources here for support.

In the meantime, just keep an eye on things but enjoy the hell out of your vert...these are great cars and if you are not into getting compliments, you better start getting use to it...CONGRATS from sunny Ca!

By the way...great color, but I'm a bit biased...

July 4 delivery means you only have about 8 or 10 top cycles. It certainly shouldn't look like that already with those creases and white marks.

Now, I'd understand it looking crushed if this was your car...

Try a gentle cleaning per the owner's manual and then let the top dry out in the sun for a day or so. You can also wet down the stubborn wrinkle areas while the car is out in the sun and smooth it out a bit, did wonders for my car.

Good luck, mine too was produced 1/12.

great, I will try that. I'm thinking they will come back once the top cycles again. I wonder if the top needs a slight adjustment.
