How often do you change spark plugs?

I was wondering how frequently you change your spark plugs. I have a 2010 SS with only 15,000 mi and wonder if I should replace the plugs.

The manual says you don't need to replace them, but I don't buy into that.

I haven't changed mine with 21K on it. Just pull one and see how it looks ..

Depends on what you do... I change mine monthly due to nitrous passes and just my driving. But if it's stock id say every 30k. Cheap maintenance to just replace occasionally

They are 100k-mile Iridium spark plugs. The tips never wear.

Unless you're modified and racing the car every weekend, fuhgetabouddit.

I changed the plugs on my modded SS at 75,000 miles only because I felt like it. Old plugs still looked like new.

Look at the plugs at 100K, and make a decision. Do not worry before then unless you have modded the engine or are sparying it.

Don't waste your money, if you are basically stock, 7 years or 100k. The stock plugs last forever.
On our boosted builds we upgrade to the ZR1 plug and recommend at 50k, with no issues, still look like new.

+1

These aren't the same plugs back in the day where your car needed a tune-up every 20k.

These are 100k plugs. But how do you change them? I assume like a standard plug change.

I had 57K miles on mine last November when I had to change valve springs and rocker trunnions due to a trunnion failure. Since I had to remove the plugs to effect the spring change, I went ahead and installed some iridium plugs. There was slight visible wear and gap growth on the original stock plugs.
If you are concerned about plugs, take them out for inspection. They should all look the same and have a light sandy color to them and the gap should be around .035 to .040. Someone can verify the gap if I am wrong. If the positive electrode is rounding off at all then I would consider changing. If they still have a defined edge they should be OK. Also look close at the ceramic parts to see if there are any cracks or damage. A magnifying glass helps with this part. Make sure your wires seat fully on the plug and coil when you are done too.

Edit: If you think a plug is bad and change it, change them all so you have equal spark energy to all cylinders. As for the higher cost of iridium plugs, I am confident they will last longer than most since iridium is very, very hard and resistant to wear. With the thinner electrode they also have less chance to round off and they focus a tighter spark where it needs to be rather than arcing to one side of a typical worn plug.

around 70,000 miles is recommended. only use the same ACDelco plugs put in from the factory.
