Resurrecting an old thread... I'm one of those with 8 year old plugs but only 36K miles. So I read here to change plugs in the range of every MONTH to 'fugeddabout it.'

Should I just run 'em?

Personally I would think you are good, with only 36k miles on them. If you are not all cammed up or FI'd, I wouldn't be so concerned about them. Heck in mine when we installed the LT's and a new set of plugs at 19k, we didn't change them out until 98k when we did the cam swap! The ones I have in there now have 31k on them. Pull a couple out and look them over.

Yeah, it's not like it's running bad or anything. I guess my only other concern is how 'welded' in place they'll be after 10+ years!

A spark plug doesn't age it only wears. Modern plugs have the threads coated they tell you NOT to use anti seize. I imagine a set that has been in 10 years will come out just as easily as a set that's been in there 1 year. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I changed mine at 100,000 - They looked fine
At 200,000 I changed them again - Had one with a somewhat eroded electrode
I'm at 189,000 so I'll let you know in another 11,000 miles.

The boots are hare to remove without damaging the wire, So I now order new Wires when I order the Spark Plugs.

Changed mine when I bought the car with about 70k miles on it. The wires fell apart when I took them off but was replacing them anyway. The plugs looked good but it idled much better after I replaced them. They had some carbon build up on them but weren’t worn down much at all.

Good stuff, gents. I'm a firm believer in the 'if it ain't broke' theory. Thanks.

Yes sir! Just keep an eye on your plug wires, if they are the stockers. Those might give you a problem before the plugs ever do. I installed my red Taylor 409's many moons ago just so they didn't give me any issues. The stock ones with the heat and all just might crack, or the boots crack.
