Thanks guys! I’ve got the additive and 75w-90 Mobil1 Gear Oil. I’ll report back next weekend after I get the chance to change it. Hopefully there will be a significant difference afterwards.

GM only needs the car to hold together during the warranty period, and to squeeze out every last drop of fuel economy to make the CAFE fleet standards.... hence the 75w/90 gear oil.

In such a tiny 1 quart capacity rear diff , this is a far better choice.

Wow! Good to know, thanks! I’ve already bought the 75w-90, but I’ll look into the different weight next time.

Whats wrong with what the factory recommends? People on forums always have ideas whats better than what has been tested by GM more extensively than what people say online or their personal experience.

Yes. Next time. Because I’ve already bought the 75w-90 for this time like I stated.

Agreed. GM engineers spent thousand of hours researching the best OEM components. Factory stuff isn’t bad at all, some people are deep-seated in their preferences.

If it's a daily driver or weekend cruiser, nothing wrong at all with factory recommended lubricants, or comparable aftermarket offerings.

What's wrong with factory tuning? What's wrong with factory DOD? What's wrong with factory ride height? What's wrong with factory lighting?

GM wants these cars to last thru the warranty period, and thats about it.

GMis like the Govt. "We're here to help", but their not.

DEX VI is a great example of GM engineering failure.

Factory tuning gives best emissions, drivability, engine life and gas mileage.
DOD is for emissions reasons set by the govt.
Ride height is for ground clearance and the most comfortable ride.
Factory lighting is amazing for night time driving and gives great visibility. Too much lighting can cause problems for other drivers on the road.
