Best to 500HP
So... I am going to a shop tomaro to talk to the guys about the best way to get to 500HP. They said they would be able to put a package together to get me to 500..
Just wondering what you all think is the best to get to 500RWHP in the LS3? |

Don't try to be cheap when modding cars. I assume you mean 500rwhp?
If you have an LS3 there have been a few that have done it with full bolt ons and a cam. You're looking at around $5k~ in parts and labor. If you are an L99 only way to hit 500rwhp is with spray or boosted. Don't fixate over hp numbers though. With only about 430rwhp my car trapped 118. |

To get close to 500 rwhp, you will need a big cam, ported or aftermarket heads, underdrive pulley, ported throttle body and or intake manifold, and of course headers, cold air kit and tune. Or you can go FI or spray.

With a big cam and supporting mods you should be able to touch 500rwhp.
I think the GX6 cam will get you around there 480-503rwhp. A much cheaper route would be bolt ons with a shot of nitrous. |

Im at 436 with just cam 235/247 113 and headers. Stock intake. Cam makes thr car way louder. Most people dont know that. For the cam and headers i am in around 1400. Pretty cheap
Cheap pacesetter headers |

First and most important question... Do you want it to drive like stock? With a large cam you need to relearn how to drive stick.
If stock - blower is a good starting point. |

But for your shop, ask for: cam (and supporting valvetrain, if needed), good headers, and a good CAI (and ported throttle body since it's cheap and people like it). I figure you'd be in for $3k for +80-100rwhp. Heads/manifold may cost you another $2k for maybe another +20rwhp. Point is, you can have a beast for about $3k with room to grow when you get the itch.
