Legal places to open up a Convertible?? (Chicago)

Hey everyone,

I have a convertible. I want to open it up (step on it), but have little interest in getting in trouble with the law.

Therefore, is there a place in the Chicago area where I can LEGALLY take my car up to (say) 130-140 MPH? Perhaps do some turns (at lower speeds), and work on 1/4 mile, 0-60 and 0-100?

I'm too chicken-shit to try this on public roads. Not a risk I'm interested in. Looking for a safe outlet.
(also, still love the car)

Of course you need to find some place privately owned (including tracks). You might want to post this in the local region thread as there should be people more familiar with the area.

The Auto Bahn Country club near Joliet and Route 66 Dragway also near Joliet. The have open track days ( Test and Tune). you will have to refer to their web sites.

This and look for some autocross events, you won't get over 60-70 but you will get to do alot of aggressive driving. In my area AutoX runs between $30-$60 and you get around 6 runs. Don't know about your area but down here Convertibles are not allowed to run track days but AutoX is fine.

Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI. Check out the Chicago5thGen site. People are going up there all the time.

There are a few of us going to RT 66 in Joliet tonight at 5pm. I think you can run verts there. Also Oct 14th we are running the Autobahn in Joliet. Maybe hitting RT 41 in Indiana in a few weeks. PM me and I can get you more details if you want them.
