Got my Car appraised.

So we've been considering to trade the Camaro for something a little more gas efficient. So I got my car appraised for trade and they told me my car was only worth $23k? My car has 25k miles on it and have a couple mods (check sig for mods). And the paint I take with Adams products. paint is not perfect but it looks pretty damm good for a 2.5 year old car.

What do you guys think? Was the offer to low? Or just about right?

Also what do you think would be a great/fair value to let the car go?

If you went to a dealer, most of them wont even give you blue book.

Dealers will always try to rape you. Take it to another dealer for a second opinion (i.e. Carmax) but realize they will only offer wholesale... the bottom/lower end so it's an advantage for them, whether they sell on their lot or Manheim/auction it away. That 23k wholesale value will probably end up advertised approx 26-28k on their lot. Selling it privately is better for your wallet but obviously it'll require more work for you (advertisement, dealing with strangers, low-ballers, perseverance, etc.).

Trying to trade in a RWD car near winter at a dealership? Better grab the Astroglide.

Why did you buy a V8 Camaro and then put a bunch of performance mods on it, if you now need something that is gas efficient?

Just doesn't make sense to me. Either way, good luck OP, I hope you can get more than 23K on it!

How about you remove some of your bolt ons and replace with factory parts.... You have roughly 1800$ in parts to be sold guestimating the sale price of:

Headers-$600-650
Exhaust-$500
Intake w/scoop-$275
Rotors-$200 (depending on mileage)
Shifter-$100-120
Lights-$200

I dont think my prices are far off (give or take is obviously there based on condition and demand)...

So now you are @ $24800ish which isn't too far off at this time of year (winter) and with your car being now 4 MODEL years old.

Private sale should net you about 24K or so if you want it gone fast. Throw it up on craigslist and let the low balling begin. If you put it back to stock you can send the rotors to me

Why not get on KBB yourself and fill in the appropriate info on your car and see what that shows your car appraised at? Also, I agree taking it to another dealer for a 2nd opinion. Might not hurt to go to somewhere outside of Chevy, they tend to know even less (yes it's possible) than Chevy dealers do and might offer you more.

Dealers are in business to make money. Paying you retail for your car is not a sound business deal. They have to be able to make money on the resale.

You will make better money selling it outright yourself. To do so means dealing with the public.
