It is more the company than the country, because other manufacturers can do it. Volkswagon is a good example. My friend has a 09 Jetta TDI and he gets close to 45 mpg with very spirited driving. I do understand the emmisions thing, but it can be done. Also, the big V8 deisels in the 1 ton trucks have those same restrictions and they are able to pull that off as well. Anyone who thinks a gasoline engine is better thana diesel needs to do some major research. Horsepower is not always that impressive for the size of some of the engines being a turbo engine as well, but the torque is outrageous along with the MPG. I know they are also expensive to work on etc, but they are generally more reliable as well. I would drive a deisel Camaro myself, but I know most wouldn't, but if it was an option, I would have it.

All you need to do Scott is state that "a Camaro based product" means "a new camaro model". I have no idea why you would rather keep posting inuendo.

Anyways... I heard it's going to be a carb'd 454 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight........................................
That happens sometimes when there are deleted posts in a thread. They get counted for the number of pages but not for the actual post count. So its possible that there would only be 7 pages worth of posts to display, but 8 pages in total when you add in the 'missing' posts.

I'd love a deisel Cruze, for example...but it's not gonna happen so long as we have such strict standards here...because diesels are "dirty"...
Another part that makes the business case for diesel less attractive is the fact that diesel prices are higher than gasoline at the moment (and haven't been significantly lower in quite a while)
