Great write up. The 5th Gen Camaro is a great road trip car. I love that WW2
statue in Sarasota and hope everyone here knows what that represents.

We also stopped at the DeSoto National Memorial in Bradenton and they were selling the passes for $10. He said they are going up to $80. You have to be 62 years old to get the deal and I am only 61 1/2. I missed out by 6 months.

Thanks! My wife got a good laugh out of that.

Grammar and spelling are a pet peeve of mine, My Spanish is about an 8 or 9 out of 10, so that's in 2 languages, ha ha.

Thanks for reading my report.

Absolutely. I had seen some pictures of it but it was not on our to-do list. And then, as we were driving along, there it was. We made a quick u-turn to see it and snap a few photos.

Looks like there are several of these statues around the US and even in Europe, in traveling exhibitions as well as permanent installations.

And, apparently, they haven't been without a little controversy.

Really nice. I am moving from CO to FL and have planned out a route using as much of RT 66 as I can through KS and MO. have driven across country a number of times but always with an RV, large truck towing a trailer, etc. so Really looking forward to this drive.

P.S. forgot I drove a 71 mustang from Boston to San Fran back in the late 70's

Route 66 is really nice in Missouri. Kansas, it is dandelions for as far as you can see.

Avoid the weekends and holidays.

Bought mine new in 2010. After a mere 2 months of ownership, I was on the road for around 5500 miles Route 66 from Missouri to California. ...then up through Nevada and then I-70 through Utah, Colorado, etc.
Car was amazing. Only way to travel !

Moving from CO to FL sounds like culture shock to me, ha ha.

You will enjoy the drive. We ditched the faster interstate routes several times on our trip in favor of some of the secondary routes. We enjoyed some of the small towns, stopped to buy at roadside fruit stands, and in general just enjoyed being away from the heavy traffic.

I-10 and I-75 were very busy and there was really no way to just relax and enjoy the drive.
