the mail slot is cosmetic only....Once you pop the hood you'll see its nearly impossible to make 'functional'.

Not functional although I'm sure someone with some know-how will be able to make it cold air induction if nothing else seeing as how the radiator support and hood latch support are likely in the way. I'm sure there will be aftermarket companies out there that will make some ram air hood variations too that will change the routing of the intake system. That would be cool; kinda' like the Ultra Z hood from SLP some time ago and the Suncoast Raptor hood that used a similar WS6 intake system.

I haven't seen any discussions on possibly modifying the hood into a cowl induction style. I have no idea how one would route the air flow to the air inlet, but it would be cool to see an operable flap like the 1st gen ZL-2 hood

first off, the faux scoop is not on the hood. its on the front fascia.

second of all, the easiest way to make a hood into a cowl is to..... add a cowl to the hood.

as for the "cool ram air" possibility of making the scoop functional...

Making the "mail slot" functional wouldn't be worth the trouble. The opening is too small to flow enough air. Making the cowl hood functional like the 69 Cowl hood would be more productive.

Thanks, glad to know you have been there. Now I can't wait for my 2SS to get here. It is my 46th belated birthday present from my wife.
