THE ECONOMICS OF THE ZL1 "HOLD"
You don't have to be a Rocket Scientist to Realize that this HOLD is for a Major Problem....In simple terms there must be $25 Million Dollars plus or Minus sitting at the Plant--------That is a LOT OF CASH FLOW sitting Idle for GM........If this was a nothing or a minor minor problem these cars would be long gone......
I hope I am Wrong but us Buyers are in for a Long Hold I think....I am sure GM is trying to Rectify the Issue as Fast as Possible and its Obvious they can't say what the problem is Publicly till its resolved..... They can't win either way "to open up or say nothing" Past Experience says we will be in the Dark for some time to come...........Harvey |

Ha Ha, you read that post huh? Damn sticker made me laugh out loud. No offence taken, I work in Advertising and am surrounded by a bunch of woman...my ego takes a beating daily. And while I am a Ford guy based on my current stable, my lovely wife is a 3rd generation Chevy girl through and through. One day I will be buying her a Corvette :-) FWIW, I'm also a Fender guy, although I love my Gibsons, and a Pepsi Guy although I did work for Coke at some point, and will drink whatever they have handy to go with my rum. Which bringing this thread back on topic, I will raise in toast to you guys (and gals) the minute I read here that cars are being delivered to their happy customers. Us car folk have to stick together otherwise we'll all be driving appliances on wheels.

I will take 1 of 1000 or 2000 any day in the 2012 model over a 2013 no matter how many they make. The VIN numbers already reflect the MY code as do all the body parts, the cars are already built, the defect will soon be corrected and we all hope to have our cars by the end of Spring. The longer production is halted the fewer 2012s will be made unless they push real hard through May. We will all be in a unique category as owners of the 2012. Yes we will suffer early depreciation and if that is an issue for anyone that does not intend to keep it over 5-7 years then they might consider a 2013..... but you only gain one year's depreciation, nothing else. Still might be better to have a 2012..... Certainly a more interesting "story" to tell!

I say drop the hammer on 'em. I feel badly for all the GM employee's from the front line saleman up through customer service, district, and even higher level ranks I imagine who have to contend with, respond to, and tolerate this incessant shameful display of impatience, lack of decorum, and outright childish behavior. Those partcipating in it are giving US, the Camaro and Chevrolet Community a black eye. This is a public board for everyone to read. Someone posted recently how the other car manufacturer boards are getting a kick out of this nonsense. I trust the flagrant complainers are proud of themselves. There is no justification in it. A long time ago I was told a phrase..."if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all". Yeah, that phrase is dated as all heck...but..there is hidden truth in it. Those dissaproving of this counterproductive behavior are being patient, but patience wears thin and can reach the tipping point when the drone of nonstop, often vitrioloc, rhetoric persists unabated. Give it a break please. Some here are serving no legitimate purpose by posting constantly in a demeaning "it's all about me" manner. Oh yes...you have a right...I know...but so do we. A two way street. Like a flake recently said here...they better make mine perfect...or else. That sums it up. Try pulling this on one of the other car boards and you will get run off so quick you won't even know what hit you. There's nothing being touchy about this...it's the proverbial broken record...the Chinese have a saying "death by a thousand cuts". I hope this Groundhog Day ends soon...and common sense prevails. That's my 2 cents worth and all I'm going to say about it until the cows come home. In the immortal words of Foghorn Leghorn, I present you this truism.......

Harvey sorry to hear about your wife, I hope your doing OK and have alot of family support. I lost my first wife a little over 8 years ago to an ongoing illness.
Losing a love one has given me a differant perspective about things, and perhaps why I don't take this waiting to seriously. Quite frankly its just a minor thing in my eyes, I'm very fortunate to have meet some one in my life to share with, and to me concerning this car as I have said before my first priority is that its safe to drive. As far as the economics of the wait, if they released this car with known issues esp to safety this would open a whole worse can of worms. GM is doing the correct thing and taking care of business and I for this. Again sorry for your lost, and I wish you the very best!
