cam help
looking to purchase a cam kit within this week or so. i dont know much about cam lifts and their specs. all i know is i want a bad ass sounding heavy cam.
trying to make around 450-470whp supporting mods are CAI cold air intake, 1 7/8 ARH with highflow cats, x-pipe and full 3 inch exhaust. i know every car is different along with every dyno but thats where i roughly want to be around hp wise help would be greatly appreciated videos of idle/dyno would be even more appreciated lol

I would call some of the more well known shops such as Vengeance, FSP, PCM, Jennety, Lethal or Rhino on here and discuss your goals with them. They are the experts, use there knowledge to your advantage. Nothing wrong with soliciting opinions on here, but your going to find that most will recommend what they already have. Also, you might want to consider a custom grind. A custom gring in most cases will be the same or just slightly more than an off the shelf grind. BTW, do you have an LS3 or L99 engine?

Just finished my build with a Comp Custom Cam #146-000-11, cam spec 273 / 285. Final numbers were 460 rwhp and 431 torque. Very pleased with the results and the sound.

amizz10- Most mid-big off the shelf cam's will get you in the window of where you are wanting to be power wise. I try and recommend a custom grind to anyone looking though simply because it is tailored to exactly what you are looking for. It ends up with the driveability that you desire and the powerband/torque curve to match. Feel free to give us a call or PM myself or Matt if you'd like or if you anymore questions. |

I'd go with a nice NF cam if you ask me, that cam is the TSP cam iirc and it won't cam as hard as a 112lsa. Just my .2

I would suggest doing a search on our "Kaotik" camshaft..I believe this camshaft would meet all of your criteria.

custom grind is where its at...especially now that it costs the same as a off shelf now. really need to sit down with a professional and tell them how you drive the car and your goals and get the right grind for you. your power goals are actually pretty simple....its what you expect it drive like that is hard. get a good tuner and a custom grind and neeeever look back

I would recommend a street friendly cam. Mine is Texas S&P 231/236 to keep my car manageable in street traffic, no lurching and the nice characteristic it has is you wil have moderate low gear torque with a solid gain in mid gear topping off with a healthy push before shifting. Sweet spots never felt so sweet.
Currently running 455hp with 426 torque. Friend of mine tomd me this about mild cams to... Quote:

The OP wants to CAM HARD so a cam in the 112 and other variables increased will make it cam HARD. LSX Camaro posted a video and that sounds nice, even untuned.
